A quick note from the principal's desk...

Good Afternoon RPI Families,


I FINALLY have some exciting news! Your family will be able to pick up materials from your students lockers on June 11 and 12!!!


Mrs. Whitaker and I will be meeting with the staff on Tuesday to solidify the plan for those two days but here is what I can tell you:


  • We will be offering time slots (by teacher) for your student to come into the building and get items from their locker and classrooms.
  • Only students will be allowed to enter the building (we need to make sure that all 548 students have time to clean out their lockers).
  • Masks, unless something from the governor changes, will be required!
  • You will need to return all school issued (Chromebooks/chargers, textbooks, library books, etc) in order to come in and clean out your space.
  • We will offer alternative times should the scheduled one not work for you and your family.
  • Because of the unique design of our building, we will allow 20 students in the building at a time (10 from the fifth grade that will use one entrance and 10 from the sixth grade that will use a different entrance) and we will partition the building to ensure all social distancing and executive order guidelines.
  • Students will enter through one door and exit through another door, but this will be a convenient process. In other words, we aren't going to ask someone to enter through the cafeteria and exit by the front office, making pickup a difficult thing.


We are asking that parents stay in their vehicles and practice social distancing.


Please have a conversation with your student about maintaining social distancing. This will be hard. Our human nature sometimes defaults to wanting to hug someone to say goodbye. While I share that mindset, we all need to understand that not everyone will. So, for the safety of others, we are going to encourage the "air high five." This could be really fun and funny! If you have a chance to snap some photos, please email them to me!


More details will be out ASAP after our Tuesday meeting with specific time, entrances, maps, etc.


Stay healthy...drink lots of water, wash your hands, read, exercise and be a good human!
