We have a lot to cover in the last few weeks to prepare students for the STAAR test and the next grade level. We have testing coming up in all grade levels to finish up the year, so it is imperative that all students are here to show all their hard work and academic growth! We appreciate all your support at home.

4TH GRADE
4th Grade Science---We are learning all about adaptations and traits (including inherited and learned.) We have just started this topic, but the students really have a good grasp on the basics and we've had some good discussions already. I look forward to seeing how much more they can learn about it.
4th Grade Math--STILL in review mode. 🙂 We are still trying to review topics that we covered earlier in the year as well as more difficult topics or just topics that tend to show up more on the STAAR. We are working hard to fill in gaps and be as prepared as possible. PLEASE help your children review fractions, decimals, multiplication and division at home.
5th Grade Science--We are also learning more about adaptation and traits. The questions, interest and discussions so far have been really impressive. I love the thought processes many of these students display in my classroom. Our discussion this morning involved the learned trait of speaking languages. This lead in to a really great discussion of the English language which transitioned right over to Mrs. Rasco's classroom. Many students are learning to make their own connections from one classroom to another and it's really fun to watch.
Thank you for sharing your children with me,
Mrs. Brown 🙂

4th Grade Reading & Language Arts
I hope everyone had a great Easter and enjoyed the long weekend.
4th grade continues to work hard preparing for the Reading STAAR test in a few short weeks from now. I know STAAR prep is not much fun, but the payoff for all the hard work will be great! Please tell your kiddos to "hang in there," Mrs. Wesley's return, and then summer is just around the corner!
As always, encourage your child to read, read, read every evening!
4th Grade Social Studies
This week the students reviewed previous weeks covering Texas' Independence to the Reconstruction after the Civil War.
Mrs. McCormick
Sra. McCormick
5TH GRADE
Math
-We are still reviewing for the STAAR test. We are taking a couple of TEKs per day and reviewing and working problems.
-We need our students coming to class every day and ready to work.
-Thank you for your support.
Mrs. Gamez
Sra. Gámez
In ELAR, we have been working very hard on poetry and drama! We will finish up reviewing over these two types of texts and start reviewing over our next type of text next week. We have really been trying to focus on our skills of inferencing and looking at how the questions will be asked on the STAAR test.
In Social Studies, we have been learning about the New Deal. We will move from that next week and start learning all about World War II!
Some reminders:
- Please send your child with a water bottle every day! It is really starting to get hot outside, and they are needing more and more water throughout the day. We have a water fountain, but each child really needs water all throughout the day.
- Please have your child reading at least 20 minutes every night. We have some huge AR goals to meet this last quarter, and I want to see everyone meet it! Also, reading is vital to their success in all areas of their school careers. It has been proven, just reading 20 minutes a night increases their testing scores! So, please READ, READ, READ!
- We are in the nitty gritty of STAAR review and we are doing everything in class to get your child ready. Please be sure your child attends school everyday so they don't miss any important review!
Thank you!
Mrs. Rasco
