Broncos VIP Recess
Bring Your Very Important Person (VIP) to Recess tomorrow!
Play and social development is an important part of every school day and we look forward to sharing this kid favorite time of day with our families. Complete the form to sign up to join us on September 27th at your child's designated grade level recess (see times listed below). Signing up in advance will help us plan ahead. All family members in attendance will need to sign in through our visitor management system on the day of the event with their driver's license.
Plan ahead and arrive early (15 minutes prior to your scheduled recess) as signing in takes time. Families will receive an email with reminder details and helpful tips the day prior to the event.
We are excited to come together with our students and families for a recess full of fun! Prior to recess, school team members and our Buckingham PTA will share an overview of volunteer opportunities at Buckingham. Our Buckingham PTA is sponsoring treats and a photo booth at Recess for VIPs and students. Bring on the joy!

A note from the PTA President
The PTA Kick Off meeting on Tuesday was a huge success, thanks to all who joined us!. We now have a full PTA Board and lots of people taking on specific roles to make this year at Buckingham awesome. And yes...we can still use more members & volunteers!
Speaking of volunteering, if you submit your school district background check by Oct. 1st you will be entered in a raffle for a $50 Amazon gift card!
This weekend is a great time to help your student reach out to friends and family to ask for Obstacle-A-Thon pledges! My son sends out a video message sharing what he loves about Buckingham and asking for donations. I can easily send it to the family text threads and post on Instagram. Find something that works for your family and help us reach our goal of raising $10,000 again this year! Online payments available!
Tuesday Oct. 1st we have our first Bronco Spirit Night at On Tap and participating food trucks! It's going to be a beautiful evening to connect with other Buckingham families, enjoy good food and raise funds for our school. See the flier for details.
Fall Family Fun Night is October 18th, put it on your calendar, we have lots of fun things planned for it! See the flier for details.
As always reach out with any questions or concerns at Buckinghambroncospta@gmail.com

Saftey Drills at Buckingham
Safety Drills are one way we strengthen safety responses and build a culture of safe practices in our school. Next Monday, we will practice our first lock down drill with students. We do these twice during the school year, once now and once in the spring. Often, our SRO and District Safety Team members are on site to support and provide feedback.
The purpose of a lock down drill is to keep everyone safe should there be a person of concern or threat of harm inside of the building. When we have this type of drill we do these things: ensure all interior doors are locked, lights, TVs, and projectors are off, and all adults/children are out of sight and silent until the drill concludes.
We will talk to students about lock down drills and when they might occur with developmentally informed language. Students will learn where to locate their bodies, and why it is important to be silent and remain out of sight. All adults in the building at that time are asked to do the same.
We appreciate your conversations at home to help ease any worries your child(ren) may have before or after the drill. Please let us know if we can ease any of yours, or answer further questions.
Thank you for your partnership and support in building a culture of safety at Buckingham.
Yearbook Cover Contest
Annual Yearbook Design Challenge Returns
The Annual Yearbook Design Challenge returns to Buckingham. Students are encouraged to use the Yearbook Design Challenge template to submit designs for this year's yearbook cover challenge. The design winner will be announced during a community gathering in November. Yearbook design submissions are due to the front office by Tuesday, October 29. Community Voting will take place during Fall Conferences. We can't wait to see the designs submitted for this year's yearbook cover!
Cellphones
A guide for Parents and Caregivers
By age 11, about half of children in the U.S. own a smartphone. These devices become a constant companion in the lives of preteens and teens – a source of connection, creativity, and, yes, distraction and potential risk.
See this parent and caregiver guide from Common Sense Media with tips to help preteens and teens use their phones safely and responsibly.
The guide also includes tips for determining when your kid is ready for a cellphone.
Dear Middle & Elementary School Parents,
We hope this message finds you well!
As the high school football season gets underway, we want to remind you of an important policy regarding attendance at the games. To ensure the safety and supervision of all our students, we require that middle and elementary school students be accompanied by a parent/guardian when attending high school football games.
This policy helps us maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated and will contribute to a positive experience for all involved.
Thank you for your understanding and support. If you have any questions or need further information, please feel free to reach out.
Warm regards,
Dave Hood
