Eye on FISD
October 10, 2024
From Dr. Gilstrap
I want to thank our community members for getting involved in our long-range planning process. We had our first meeting with the Facility Task Force to discuss and analyze our Master Facility Plan and prepare for the future. Our second community meeting will be October 30, where we will continue to identify priorities and funding options. We encourage families and community members to attend, as well as respond to our community survey. More details below.
The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority, and we recognize that districts across the state have been the target of false threats that provoke fear and anxiety. Please know that these incidents are taken seriously and that we investigate all reports thoroughly. We ask that you help us keep our schools safe by voicing any concerns immediately. If you see something, say something.
I hope that our families enjoy the Floresville Peanut Festival this weekend. I am proud to see our students participating in the festivities, representing the legacy of our community. This is a time to come together and celebrate our traditions. Have a safe long weekend!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Let’s come together as a community and show our support for breast cancer awareness. Help us raise awareness and honor those affected by breast cancer.
We invite you to participate by honoring someone you know who is battling or has battled breast cancer. Today, October 10, is the last day to submit the name of that special someone and have them be recognized during the football game on Pink Out Night. Click here to honor someone. Pink Out Night is October 25.
Bullying Prevention Month
Though we focus on providing a safe learning environment for our students year-round, October has been set aside as a time to draw special attention to bullying prevention. Bullying may include in-person or online behavior and can result in higher school absentee rates, decreases student performance, and increases physical and mental stress.
Unity Day is October 16 and everyone is encouraged to wear orange on this day to promote kindness, acceptance and inclusion.
Community Meeting
Floresville ISD will have its second community meeting to analyze our Master Facility Plan. The purpose of this second meeting is to focus on funding options and continued development of priority projects. The meeting will be on Wednesday, October 30, at 6 p.m. in the FMS Cafeteria and will be open to the public. If you would like to join, please RSVP here.
Families and community members are also encouraged to fill out a community survey, which will help guide the district’s decisions. The deadline to submit a response is October 16.
