Growing Together
A note from your Principal
I can hardly believe we are at the end of September! Opportunities for student volunteer service is on the rise, seniors are chipping away at college applications, and big events like Bingo Night and Fall Dance are being planned. We appreciate the time you take to read our updates and get involved as you are able to support the school and community.
In gratitude always,
Dr. Judd

Attention students- we know you love to smell nice and Bath and Body works is full of fun scents, however, we have students and staff members with asthma and other allergies that make it difficult to breathe when these are sprayed or worn heavily. Please be considerate and use a minimal amount and never spray in classrooms, hallways, or restrooms.

Today is the last day of “Celebrate Freedom Week”, a week in which we in the State of Florida Educational system, reflect on the Declaration of Independence. Here are some interesting facts about that document key to the freedoms we enjoy to this day in the US. John Dunlap was the printer who was asked to make about 200 copies of the Declaration. Only 26 of those copies still exist today. There is a handprint in the bottom left corner of the Declaration, but its origins are still unknown and The Declaration is now sealed in a titanium-and-aluminum frame with controlled humidity.

Weekly Tidbits- 9/2-9/6
Today is Make a Difference Monday and over the next two weeks, local elementary schools need your help with their book bonanzas. The first one is at Hobe Sound Elementary tomorrow night. Free dinner, too! Sign up for any of the schools using the link in last Friday’s newsletter.
Today is Take Care Tuesday and today we will share about the dangers of consuming energy drinks. First, these can be as addictive as drugs like cocaine and also cause serious withdrawals from the chemicals as well as high levels of sugar and caffeine. The short burst of energy is also not able to be sustained and can lead to dehydration. Studies have shown several organs, including the heart and lungs can be damaged from teens consuming energy drinks regularly. In fact, there are no known health benefits to adolescents as your bodies are still developing. Regular consumption of plain water gives you a much better boost to your energy and overall health physically and emotionally.
Today is Way to Go Wednesday. Shout out to Alexis Robertson and Sinai Heyer for their help as ambassadors for the college fair this morning!
Today is Think About It Thursday. CLOSED HURRICANE HELENE
Today is Fun Fact Friday and is the 271st day of the year, with only 95 days remaining in 2024. There's not much time left in this semester. Make sure your grades are where they need to be.

All things safety and behavioral expectations
Full handbook and code of conduct:
Safety reminder- p. 14 of our handbook states, "Headphones/ear buds must be used by any student playing audio within the common areas. For safety reasons, only 1 earbud may be used." We have given several warnings, but ongoing defiance with this will lead to referrals and consequences, including confiscation.
Student ID cards- Cards will be active from 7:00 am- 3:00 pm when school is in session. It is imperative that you have your ID on you at all times as this is a key to the building, used for textbooks check out, scanning into FOCUS if tardy, and more. Please remember that you may not open doors for anyone without an ID card, even if they are a good friend. Those without ID cards must come through the front doors and complete the online form at the front desk indicating you forgot or lost your ID. New IDs are $10 each. If you know you lost your ID please report to Mrs. Farias with $10 and have a new one printed.
Students SHOULD NEVER take photos of or video of ANY students or staff without their explicit permission. Beyond being a violation of our code of conduct, it could potentially also be a criminal offense. Having your cellphone on campus is a privilege. If you use it inappropriately (taking unauthorized photos, posting unauthorized photos or video to social media) on campus you may be required to turn it in and pick it up at the end of each day.
