Dear Franklin Academy Families,
As we wrap up another wonderful week at Franklin, I want to take a moment to extend my warmest wishes to all of our families who are celebrating this season of reflection and renewal. Whether you're observing Passover, Good Friday, or Easter, may this time bring peace, joy, and meaningful moments with loved ones.
This week, our gym was filled with music, dancing, skits, laughter, and pride as our students took the stage for our K-3 and 4-8 Spring Concerts. Each performance was truly magical, and it was such a joy to watch our students shine. Their confidence, creativity, and spirit were on full display, and it was a beautiful reminder of the incredible talent and heart within our school. Thank you to our teachers, staff, and especially our families who showed their support by attending and cheering on our students. These are the moments that make Franklin feel like family.

School-Home Connection: How can parents help develop the attributes at home.
Students who are KNOWLEDGEABLE have explored relevant and significant concepts and can remember what they have learned. They can draw on this knowledge and apply it in new situations.
How can parents help to develop students who are Knowledgeable at home?
Encourage your child to read books at home that correspond with the topics being covered in school. In particular, books in their mother tongue will help your child make more meaningful, lasting connections to what is being taught in their classroom in English.
Ask your child about what they are learning in school and engage them in conversations about it:
“Why do you think that is an important thing to know about?”
“Can you think of anything happening in the world today that might be similar to that aspect of History?”
“You’re learning about pulleys and gears at school? This reminds me of your simple machines unit in grade 2... have you noticed any similarities? How is what you’re learning different?”
Foster any area that your child expresses an interest in with books and activities, but also be sure to encourage them to explore other areas.
Encourage your child to become familiar with current events and to read the newspaper and watch the news when appropriate.
Students who are REFLECTIVE know what they are good at and what they’re not. They try to think about these things, and they make changes where they can. They give thoughtful consideration to their own learning and consider their personal strengths and weaknesses in a constructive manner.
How can parents help to develop students who are Reflective at home?
Spend some time reviewing your child’s report card with them. They should have the opportunity to look at this document and consider it as well. Discuss it with them and truly consider their thoughts on their strengths and areas for improvement.
Consider the goals that your child could set for the next term. Make a list not only of the goals, but of specific actions that can be taken to achieve these goals. You might want to list action that your child will take independently as well as action parents will take to support
them. For example, if one of the goals your child sets for herself is to improve her writing, her action might be to keep a journal and write in it for at least 10 minutes each night. As a parent, you might decide that the two of you will participate in shared writing, for 30 minutes
each week and produce a book of narratives together.
Mrs. Shultz’s tech theatre class
Mrs. Shultz’s tech theatre students learn to create set designs by combining digital tools and physical models. They started by gathering ideas and visuals in digital portfolios, which allows them to share their work and get feedback from classmates and teachers. After finalizing their designs online, they have started making small models using shoeboxes. This hands-on activity helps them bring their ideas to life and encourages creativity. By using both digital and physical methods, students gain valuable skills that prepare them for future work in theatre production.

Parent Referral Program
We are excited to announce that Franklin Academy is now accepting applications for the 2025-2026 academic year, with the goal of achieving full enrollment at each grade level. To support this effort, we are launching a Parent Referral Program and encourage all of our current families to help spread the word and refer new families to our school.
By participating, families can earn service hours for each referred family that attends a campus tour. Additionally, new families will be entered into a drawing for a free Franklin uniform set upon enrollment.
Here’s how you can get involved:
- Pick up referral postcards at the front office or access digital copies on our website and in our weekly newsletter.
- Share the postcards in person, via social media, text, or email.
- Encourage referred families to attend a campus tour with completed materials.
Franklin Academy is known for its high academic standards, consistently exceeding district and state performance benchmarks. With our dedicated teachers, small class sizes, and unique IB World School designation, we ensure that your child receives the best possible education.
Thank you for being an integral part of our community and for helping us grow and strengthen the Franklin family!
