Introducing the 2023 ACS Teachers of the Year!
Introducing our Teachers of the Year!
We're proud to announce our outstanding ACS Teachers of the Year! These educators were nominated by their peers. Read below what some of their colleagues had to say about their effectiveness and impact as an Arlington educator and professional!
Arlington Elementary - Monica Gallimore
2nd Grade Teacher
"Monica Gallimore is an exceptional teacher and is someone who is always there to support both adults and students at Arlington Elementary. She is always helpful to teachers on every grade level and willing to jump in where she is needed. She offers suggestions, practical and researched-based strategies, and will do anything she can to help her fellow teacher be the best teacher they can be.
Monica is excited by new ideas and is always willing to give them a try. She approaches each day with a smile and “go get them” attitude. She is a trusted colleague, leader, and exactly the kind of teacher that should represent AES."
Donelson Elementary - Kelly Wortham
3rd Grade Teacher
"Ms. Wortham is a dedicated educator who spends countless hours crafting lesson plans that are tailored to the Portrait of the Graduate and are highly engaging. She’s innovative, collaborative, and dedicated to the profession. She is always committed to providing a creative and nurturing place for her students to grow. She holds students to high standards while guiding them with the appropriate modifications that ensure their academic success.
Ms. Wortham is the definition of a team player who works well for others by always going above and beyond to help every staff member. She continues to be a leader amongst her team year after year and contributes to a positive and nurturing culture at DES. Any student is lucky to have her as a teacher."
Arlington Middle - Cody Price
6th-8th Grade Orchestra Instructor
"One cannot say enough good things about Cody Price. She makes music amazing! Just to watch Ms. Price teach music is wonderful. She is firm, but kind, and always sets high expectations for all of her learners. She has a unique ability to relate learning music to other academic areas, and through that discipline, students become more confident, which then shows in other areas of their academic career.
It is absolutely amazing to hear Cody's students, most of whom have never touched an instrument at the beginning of the year, play a piece of music beautifully by Christmas. All of her students are grateful for her firm, but fun, techniques in teaching them the foreign language of music. The impact she makes on each of her students is immeasurable."
Arlington High - Casey Sandlin-Rogers
STEM & Work-Based Learning Teacher
“Casey has done an excellent job expanding our STEM program. She was instrumental in our STEAM certification, which brought AHS state-wide recognition for our commitment to STEM education, and she has won multiple regional and state awards for her work. She motivates her students and supports their participation in state and national competitions, which in turn, makes them more well-rounded and prepared for life after high school. Most recently, one of Casey’s students won The Tennessee STEM Innovation Network’s Mini-Design Challenge for the entire state high school division, providing just one example of her desire to see her student’s succeed.
Casey is dedicated in and outside the classroom and forms bonds with her students. Many of her students will come back, whether it’s during STRIPES or through the extra-curricular club she sponsors. That dedication even extends to her colleagues and is helpful to teacher both in and outside her department. Casey is truly deserving of being named Arlington High School’s Teacher of the Year!”
