Launch of Summer EBT Program for Nevada Families
DWSS is partnering with the Nevada Department of Education to determine children who are automatically eligible for Summer EBT (S-EBT). Children enrolled in schools that participated in the National Free and Reduced Lunch (FRL) and School Breakfast Program (SBP) during the 2023-2024 school year and were certified as eligible for these programs were the first to receive benefits beginning September 14, 2024.
For additional information visit https://www.lasvegasacademy.net/post/launch-of-summer-ebt-program-for-nevada-families
Students who did not automatically receive benefits but may be eligible can apply beginning last Friday, September 20, 2024, through November 30, 2024. Please note, that parents will need to first search for their child in our S-EBT web portal to see if their student already received a benefit. If they do not, the portal will give them an option to apply.
Parents can use the link below to the S-EBT web portal to check their child’s eligibility and apply for S-EBT.
https://accessnevada.dwss.nv.gov/public/sebt-benefits/start
If parents have questions about the program contact the S-EBT Customer Service line at (702) 486-9640, Southern NV, or (775) 684-8740 Northern NV or visit the DWSS website which contains information for the program https://dwss.nv.gov/SNAP/Summer_Electronic_Benefit_Transfer_(S-EBT)_Program/.

Reminder! STUDENT SAFETY! No Money Drop Off or Third Party Deliveries Accepted
The Front Desk is not allowed to accept money dropped off for students. Parents wishing to pay for a fee or item may pay with cash or check directly to the school bank.
For safety, students are not permitted to receive any third-party deliveries of any kind. Neither students nor parents/guardians may order food to be delivered to the student(s) for lunch. LVA does not have the resources or ability to verify the safety of the delivery/or person delivering. Delivery of gifts, balloons, flowers, and other non-instructional items takes away from the school’s ability to focus on instruction. Parents/guardians needing to deliver a forgotten lunch or any other conservatory item (dance shoes, costumes, or instruments) or academic work may check in at the front desk to make arrangements.
Accolades
Students Play Violins for Hope
History and music touched students' and faculty's hearts with Violins of Hope's visit to LVA. The organization brought 4 violins that survived concentration camps, one violin's lineage was traced back to the 1850's. Hope maintains 90 violins that travel the world with presentations of hope through music, facing war and violence. Speaker, Suzanne Rejto, hand carries the instruments to talks and demonstrations around the country. Students from across the conservatories had the opportunity to hear the violins played by UNLV Orchestra Conductor Taras Krysa, LVA Orchestra Director Eric McAllister, Mariachi Assistant Ariel Perez, and fellow students. Questions were answered providing students with details of the instruments' history and how they saved lives during World War II.

Class of 2025 Essential Information
Second Offering of the College Scholarship & Resume Workshop
Two challenging college application requirements are writing a stand-out scholarship essay and an exemplary resume. Join College and Career Coordinator Ms. Miller on October 1, 2:15 to 3:15 pm for a workshop to improve both!
VITAL REMINDER! Mark your calendars! FAFSA Night Announced!
Attending this event is essential for every senior considering going to a post-secondary educational institution. During the workshop, families get assistance in the FAFSA process and completing the application.
What is the FAFSA?
"The FAFSA form is an application that students and families need to complete to apply for federal student aid, such as federal grants, work-study funds, and loans. Completing and submitting the FAFSA form is free, and it gives students access to the largest source of financial aid to help pay for higher education." -US DOE.
Why is it important to get my application completed early?
You're more likely to qualify for federal, state, and college-offered grants if you file the FAFSA early. Saving for College reported that students who fill out the FAFSA between October and December get twice as many grants, on average, as compared with students who file the FAFSA later.
