A Note from Our Principals
Hello Waubesa Families,
Thank you for attending Fall Conferences! Your engagement and involvement is greatly appreciated and means so much to your child and teachers. We hope this time provided a glimpse of all of the positive things your child is doing and an opportunity to collaborate with teachers to support your child in specific areas. We have spring conferences in March again, however, we encourage you to communicate with your child’s teachers via Seesaw any time.
We’re looking forward to two full weeks of solid learning before Fall break November 27-29. The anticipation of breaks can cause a range of emotions for kids. It’s important to remind kids to stay in the moment and focus on the present by getting plenty of rest and exercise which leads to more regulated and focused learning. As always, please reach out to our student services team if your child is struggling emotionally through the change of seasons.
If you have any questions or suggestions throughout the school year, we encourage you to use this form. We appreciate hearing directly from families when they have questions or concerns; thank you.
Thank you for your continued support. Soaring Higher Together!
Corey Shefchik: Principal
Brooke Hauser: K-5 Associate Principal

Pneumonia on the Rise
Per WI DHS and CDC Mycoplasma pneumonia (M. pneumoniae or walking pneumonia) activity is increasing nationwide and in Wisconsin. Every three to seven years an increase in M. pneumoniae cases are identified in the United States. For moderate to severe cases, antibiotic therapy can be prescribed by a clinician. Please view the CDC website for additional information and resources. If you have a cough, fever, run down/extremely tired, difficulty/painful breathing we recommend that you contact your healthcare provider.

McFarland School District Awarded 2024-25 Sparks Grant for Community Inclusion
The Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities (WI-BPDD) has awarded the McFarland School District a 2024-25 Sparks grant to enhance community connections and inclusion for people with disabilities. Sparks grants fund efforts that create meaningful social connections, help organizations build inclusive programs, and encourage community members to develop a greater understanding of people with disabilities.
The McFarland School District, in collaboration with McFarland Recreation, Aquatics, and Play, will establish a local advisory board that includes people with disabilities, their families, and community members. The advisory board will offer input on recreational activities, ensuring they are more welcoming and accessible, and it will guide the creation of accessible resources, including an updated brochure, website, and registration process. Planned programming includes expanding activities for all ages, with a focus on those under three and over 18. This grant will ultimately enhance programming, improve access to adaptive equipment, and engage the entire community. More information is available at WI-BPDD’s website.
