Thank you for another fabulous week with your kids!

Fall break begins tomorrow! This mean we are already about 25% through the school year. It is CRAZY how quickly time has flown. I hope you and your family have great plans for the break - even if it is taking a drive to the mountains to see the beautiful fall leaves.

It is now time for our Bridge Family Fall Survey. Please check your email Friday late afternoon for the survey link. There is a different survey for each grade level. The survey data is extremely helpful in ensuring we are providing a safe, positive and supportive learning environment for all students. The survey will end after we return from Fall Break. Results from the survey will be shared in the weekly news bulletin.

The Bridge logo shirt order is now open and includes short and long-sleeved tees and crew neck sweatshirts. The order will close on October 16. You MUST place your order by October 15. Shirts will be delivered to the school approximately two weeks after the order closes and staff will sort the orders and deliver them to the your student. Remember, we DO NOT sell shirts at the school. If you miss this order you will need to wait until February or March to place another order.

When ordering you MUST put the name of your OLDEST Bridge student to ensure we know WHOM the shirts belong.

When ordering remember, youth sizes are preceded by "Y". A youth small is sized as "YS" while an adult small is sized as "S". We do not have the ability to switch these shirts if your order an incorrect size.

Bridge's personalized learning model is different than any model implemented in any other school. Our model requires a lot of instructional staff to ensure your students receive the education defined in our charter. With classroom teachers, special education staff, teacher specialists, interventionists, and classroom para-educators, Bridge employs 66 highly qualified individuals to help provide your student a personalized learning experience, in a positive and supportive environment.

With 535 students at Bridge, this is a ratio of 8 students per instructional staff member. Each and every one of these employees is a critical piece to our personalized learning model and like cogs in a wheel, we could not run our school without each of them.

The Lost & Found has reached capacity. Please stop by the school and retrieve the items that belong to your students. The Lost & Found is under the front portico and will remain there over Fall Break. When we return from break, all remaining items will be bagged and donated.

Birthdays are SUPER fun for kids! Our teachers typically celebrate the child's birthday with a song, or a book or a hat (depending on the grade and teacher). Parents are welcome to come and eat lunch with their child or even bring them lunch. Students are NOT allowed to bring treats or prizes to distribute. This is for lots of reasons - the first being our Wellness Policy does not allow us to distribute treats to students. Next, we have so many kids with food allergies a treat may actually harm them. Finally, in our learning pods we have upwards of 90 students. If a student were to bring a treat they would need to provide enough for all 90 kids and many of our families cannot spend $100+ just for a child's birthday treat. So, to ensure nobody ingests something that could make them ill and no child feels left out because their parents could not provide 90 treats or prizes, we have elected, as a school NOT to have students bring birthday treats or prizes. This is noted in our Family Handbook which was distributed at Back to School Night and can also be found on our website at:

Each week students attend a Visible Learning class to learn about traits of a GOOD LEARNER. When we return from break students will be learning about INITIATIVE. A good learner takes initiative by recognizing and doing what needs to be done, before they are asked to do it.

Please talk to your child about the importance of taking initiative and then recognize when they take initiative at home. Our mission is personalized learning but also to teach kids to be accountable and take ownership of their own learning. Taking initiative is a trait they can use well beyond their time at Bridge.

The yearbook can now be ordered, online. Orders are not taken at the school. Yearbooks will not be available at the school for sale. The cost is $15. You can also find the order information on our website at: https://www.bridgecharter.org/school-events

Lunch payments can be made online or in the front office using cash or check. Payments made in the front office are posted immediately in Aspire. Online payments are not immediately updated in Aspire.

When payments are made online we must complete several steps to get the payments moved to Aspire. We do this every Monday and Wednesday. After we run the online report it takes another day for the money to post to your student's Aspire account. Please allow 3 - 5 days from the day you make the online payment to the day the information posts in Aspire.

We LOVE parent and grand parent volunteers at school! If you would like to volunteer, please check with your child's teachers. If you want to volunteer but aren't excited about coming into the school, we have LOTS of opportunity for outside volunteer work including:

• Cutting Watch Me Learn tickets (stop by the office)
• Pulling weeds in the rock areas and park strips (we have all the area in front of the school and up 4800 S along the school fence).
• Using rakes and shovels to redistribute the gravel from the bottom of the retention area in front of the school to the top area to cover the black landscape screen.

Once your family has logged 30 volunteer hours they will have a frog put into our Volunteer Pond in the foyer.

If you want to volunteer but do not have the time, you can donate $90 to cover the 30 hours. If you choose to donate, complete the volunteer form. You can donate in the office or by using our DONATE icon on the home page of our website.

Absences MUST be excused within 24 hours of the absence. You can do this by leaving a message on the Attendance line at school (801)499-5180 or by using the Excuse Absence online form. You can find this on our website by clicking on the Excuse Absence icon or using the link below:

EXCUSE ABSENCE

Title I was initially passed in 1965 under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). It is the largest federal assistance program for public schools. These supplemental funds provide students the opportunity to receive a fair, equitable and high-quality education to help close achievement gaps.

Bridge Elementary receives our Title I funding based on the percentage of students that qualify for free or reduced lunch. For this reason we encourage ALL families to apply for Free/Reduced lunch through Aspire to ensure every single student receives the services needed, including access to free or reduced meals if appropriate.

Title I provides avenues for parent input and participation. We do this through our surveys and the link to the form on our website which allows parents to submit questions and suggestions.
