Why is rebirth necessary to enter the kingdom of God? (see Ephesians 2:1-5)

John 3:16 is sometimes called “the Gospel in a nutshell.” What does that mean? The message of God’s great plan of salvation for all people is contained in one small verse: God sent His only Son Jesus because He loves us, and everyone who believes in Jesus will be saved.

Kid Talk
Read Isaiah 6:1-8.
The prophet Isaiah was scared! God Himself appeared to him, and Isaiah knew he was a sinful man. But God touched his lips and took away his sins. God forgives our sins too. He gives us the courage to say, like Isaiah did, “Here I am, send me!”

Holy, Holy, Holy -- LSB 507
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!
God in three persons, blessèd Trinity!
Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore Thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,
Which wert and art and evermore shalt be.
Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide Thee,
Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see,
Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee,
Perfect in pow’r, in love, and purity.
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise Thy name in earth and sky and sea.
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!
God in three persons, blessèd Trinity!

The Lord's Prayer
Luther's Morning Prayer
I thank you my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
