He was a finalist in the History Division and in Geography, he placed 5th out of 25 students from all over the US. Peter qualified for nationals and internationals for both events. Congrats!
Digital Dozen Award
The Excellence In Youth Team is excited to showcase Madelyn T., Levi D. and Drew J. from Prairie Lane, J H., Anais K., Callen S., Evan B. and Emmitt D. from Sunset Hills, and Otis M. and Madelynn T. from Swanson as the most recent recipients of the Digital Dozen award for the 23-24 school year! The Digital Dozen Award is presented to WCS students who earn 12 of the digital badges from the EY Website (ey.westside66.org), which is available to students district-wide. It takes self-motivation, grit, and determination to earn these badges and these star students should be proud of this accomplishment!
THIRD Digital Dozen for Swanson student!
Congratulations Karnitha on earning your THIRD digital dozen! The EY team applauds you for demonstrating grit and determination to complete 36 badges, a rare accomplishment in our badge program history. Continue to keep learning, inspiring other kids, and, of course, working on badges.
We asked Karnitha to share some of her thoughts about the EY badges.
Overall, how do EY badges help you become a better student?
Well, they kind of help me with different skills because I have learned about different types of things.
I like to pick out badges in different categories.
What badge this year was your favorite?
I really liked the Tangram Challenge badge.
What badge do you think that all 5th graders should try?
The Mission to Mars badge because learning about space, in my opinion, is cool.
Many people might like it.
