Thank you to everyone that came out to the Winter Festival last week. It was a HUGE success. I BIG shout out goes out to the PAWS members that helped to organize and run everything. Students and their families had a great time.

The 4th and 5th grade Choir put on a wonderful performance on Friday! Remember Stings and Band perform on this Friday, Dec 13th!

We were notified that Santa will be traveling over our school between 11-11:30 on December 10th. We would like for our students to see him. If you have a reason that you would like your student to NOT participate in looking for Santa please email Ms. Smith your request, all requests will be honored, and we will have a place set up for these students.

At Dowell we work with students daily with resources from the program "Choose to be Nice." Below you will see a link to the parent resources from Choose to be Nice. I encourage you to look into these and share them with your children and families. Students are "Choosing to be Nice" every day and Dowell and I believe the program has played a big role in accomplishing this.

Each year the state puts out a school report card for all public schools in Maryland. Data from the MCAP assessment as well as the school survey is used to create a star ranking for each school. Dowell is holding strong at 4 stars however progress was noted in almost all categories included. This is due to the hard work and dedication of the staff and parents. If you would like to learn more about the school report card, I have attached the User Guide below. I am also willing to sit down with any parent to discuss questions and concerns about our School Report Card. I am proud of the hard work our staff and parents put in each day to make sure that their students are receiving an amazing education.
