Student of the Month For Responsibility
Responsibility is taking action and understanding the impact of our choices. We have an amazing group of students here at Sewell. Below are students nominated by their teacher, for Student of the Month for Responsibility.
Ms. Barraza's class: Enrique consistently tries his best with everything he does! First, he's very responsible with turning in his daily homework and classroom assignments in a timely manner. He's also very conscientious about the outcome of his classwork; the formation of all letters is done neatly and with precision; this is something to marvel at as a young writer. Congratulations, Enrique, we're so proud of you😀!!!!
Ms. Hanson's class: Brielle shows initiative, seeks help when she needs, and contributes positively to the classroom by being reliable and trustworthy, she is also a great teacher helper.
Mrs. Alvarado-Wells' class: Nora consistently completes her classroom tasks, which includes turning in homework on time, and finishing her in school assignments on time. She is responsible for her school supplies and keeps them organized. She offers help to her classmates and creates a positive classroom environment.
Ms. Dolan's class: Michael sets a good example of responsibility by always trying his best, finishing his schoolwork and homework, and by taking care of his belongings. He is responsible in his interactions with others. He is kind and helpful. If something happens, he will take responsibility, apologize if necessary, and will try to make it better.
Ms. Ioannou's class: Yurianna always completes her assignments and homework on time. She helps remind her classroom community to follow directions throughout the day. Yurianna can be counted on to always do the right thing. She works hard and is always focused. Yurianna is a good model of responsibility for her own actions and takes on responsibility for others.
Ms. Mendoza's class: I'd like to nominate Darick for my responsibility award. Darick strives to do his best every single day. I can always count on him to follow the rules and encourage others to do the same. Thanks, Darrick for being responsible!
Ms. Petrino's class: Emiliana is always responsible. She always is responsible for her own choices and for her work. She is neat and always knows where her materials are located. She returns homework on time every week. She can be trusted to be responsible with making good behavior choices. Thank you for being such a responsible saber cat!
Ms. Bonsall's class: Naliyah has a positive attitude, is on time for school, and comes ready to learn! She consistently shows respect for teachers and peers, which is reflected in her polite and considerate behavior. Naliyah is positive and encouraging to her classmates in group projects and activities, and in both takes and gives directions well. She is responsible and accountable for her work and is always prepared for class and assignments. Congratulations Naliyah!
Ms. Ryan's class: Landon always makes sure he is studying, even if he was not assigned anything for that day, and he accepts responsibility and corrects any mistakes he may have done without hesitation and is always honest.
Perfect Attendance
As a reminder, in order to participate in the monthly Perfect Attendance Pizza Party, you have to be here every day, on time and without leaving early.

Letter Grade Celebration
On Wednesday, November 27th, we celebrated our "A" letter grade by enjoying some apple pie and having an afternoon of fun. Thank you, Booster Club and Ms. Jessica, for working with Costco and getting apple pie for our staff and students. We appreciate all your support!
OMA: Opening Minds through the Arts
OMA in December
- We have had a wonderful November creating wonderful fall crafts and preparing for our OMA Concert. We had a performance from Rincon/UHS Dance department that the kids and teachers really enjoyed.
As listed below with other important dates, 12/4/2024 our OMA Winter Concert featuring songs from classes K-5, 5pm outside by basketball courts. Please bring blankets and/or chairs and get here early to find your spots. We will be opening up bus bays so there will be ample parking on campus. Students may wear holiday colors or hats that don't stick up.
12/12/2024 AZ Opera Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf? 9:30-11 in cafeteria for any classes who can attend.
12/19/24 Beauty and the Beast-Arts Express field trip for 3rd-5th grades. No more volunteers needed at this time. 10am-1pm. Students should bring a snack they may eat at intermission. We will eat lunch when we get back.

Volunteering at Sewell
We are looking for parent volunteers to support in our classroom by supporting students and the teacher. You can help in our garden, the library, during lunch recess, or support a classroom field trip. Your help is needed and greatly appreciated it takes all of us working together to "Inspire and Empower our Students for Success." Please sign up to volunteer with us today!!
Inclusive Preschool Program: Open Seats 2024-25 school year
Your child will enjoy meaningful friendships and increase their social interaction. They will have peer role models for academic, social and behavior skills. This prepares them for adult life in an inclusive, diverse society. We know students achieve more in place of learning where every student's needs are supported by an inclusive community. Their teacher is early childhood certified, and we keep small class sizes for high-quality experiences for your child.
- Ages: 3 and 4
- must be three by August 31
- Free
- 2½ hours daily
- Morning OR afternoon session
- Classes held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday
Before/After School Registration
Our Before- and After School Programs offer a safe and fun place for children before school, after school, on breaks, and during the summer. Our programs engage students in various activities that include arts and crafts, indoor/outdoor games, cooking, homework help, explore through field trips, and more! Our Before- and After-School programs are licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services and accept DES.
Services Cost
Before School $44.10 weekly (7:00 am - 8:00 am)
After School $81.90 weekly (after school - 6:00 pm)
Before/After School $94.50 weekly
Spots are granted in order of application, so apply soon.
Attendance or Tardy Reporting
If your child will be absent on any given day for any reason, please call our attendance line, 520-584-7200. You can also report absences and tardies through ParentVue, see pdf document below.
If your child is tardy to school, they will need to be checked-in, by a parent, in the front office before going to class.
Excellent attendance is a high priority at Sewell. Missing school can be detrimental to your child's progress. When a child is absent from school, they will need to make-up missing assignments. Please contact your child's teacher via email for make-up work.
