Special Education Parent Rep
The 24-25 Special Education District Advisory Committee will soon convene for the first meeting of the year. We are seeking one parent from our Special Education program from each school site to join the committee. Additionally, we are seeking a parent from each of the following specialized programs as an additional representative: Extensive Needs, Visually Structured, and Behaviorally Structured. The first meeting is on Thursday, November 14th, with additional meetings on February 13th and April 10th. The meetings are held from 9 am- 10 am in person at the District Office. Parent representatives learn about the district's programs, share ideas, ask questions, and disseminate important talking points to their school communities. Please let your Principal know if you would like to be considered for this important role.
PVSD Wellness Policy- No Soft Drinks or Glass Bottles at PVSEA
Please do not send your students to school with soft drinks. (Coke, Pepsi, etc.)
Click here for PVSD's Wellness Policy with more information on Birthday Celebrations.
Late Arrivals Require Parent/Guardian Sign-in
We have a significant number of students being consistently dropped off for school after the tardy bell.
Late arrival negatively impacts learning for the late students and disrupts instruction for students that arrived on time.
If your student is late, you will need to come into the office and sign your student into school with a reason for the late arrival.
See the helpful tips below to help you arrive on time.
If there is any additional support needed, please contact our office at any time. (805) 383-5340
New Drop-Off/Pick-Up Procedures at the PVSEA Early Education Center
Please note that the parking lot procedures have changed at the PVSEA Early Education Center.
(550 Temple Ave.)
Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation in ensuring student safety during drop-off and pick-up from school.
If you are interested, please email our PTA.
Student Cell Phone Procedures for 24-25
Due to the overwhelmingly positive feedback from staff and families last spring, in 24-25 we will continue to require cell phones, smartwatches, and earphones of all sorts are to be out of sight and not used during the school day. Our students have adapted to this change, and they are engaging in more positive activities during non-instructional time. Of course, students can have them set to silent in their pockets or backpacks. Smart watches need to be covered at all times. Students will need to ask to go to the office if they need to communicate with their parents. The office is happy to take parent calls in urgent matters like unexpected dismissal changes.
Main Campus (700 Temple Ave.) Drop-off/Pick-Up Procedures
Arrive at school between 7:55 a.m. and 8:05 a.m. Gates close at 8:07. And Instruction begins at 8:10.
TK/Kindergarten: drop-off/pick-up at the EEC Campus beginning at 7:55 for Early Scholars & 8:30 for Late Scholars.
1st-8th-grade: Scholars may enter at the main drop-off gate in front of the Main Campus beginning at 7:55. When using the drop-off lane, please pull ALL THE WAY forward. This allows for more students to exit cars and prevents a backup in the parking lot. Students must exit the car from the PASSENGER side only. The driver MAY NOT EXIT the car. If your child requires assistance to exit the car, please PARK and walk your child to the gate. This keeps everyone safe and traffic flowing efficiently. When crossing from the parking lot on foot, always use the marked crosswalk areas.
The 3rd lane is for through traffic only. DO NOT drop-off students in this lane.
Pick-up Procedures
With common dismissal this year at 2:25pm, our pick-up procedures will require extra caution and patience as all of our TK-5th-grade scholars will be dismissed from school at the same time. Pick-up procedures at dismissal will be at the exact locations as drop-off.
Middle School Moves to a 6--Period Day & Thursday 1:27 Dismissal
Our Middle School will be moving to a 6-period school day.
As you know, last year, we tested a 6-period schedule with your middle schoolers.
It has proven successful with students and teachers. Therefore, we will begin moving in that direction in the 24-25 school year.
To best meet the needs of every student, middle school students will be placed in homerooms based on the need for either academic intervention or extension. Each homeroom will provide either academic intervention or extension for three out of five days during the homeroom period. The goal is to increase academic achievement for the entire middle school by providing targeted instruction. We are excited to implement this program and cannot wait to see the academic gains for our students.
The intervention/extension program requires a great deal of planning and preparation. Thus, the dismissal time for middle school students is 1:27 PM. The 2:55 PM dismissal time on Monday-Wednesday and Friday remain the same. Please plan for the schedule change. We thank you, in advance, for your support of this new program.
AVID & No Place for Hate Schoolwide Focus
In alignment with building a positive, healthy school environment where our scholars can thrive academically and social-emotionally, we will continue our AVID schoolwide focus. Additionally, we are a No Place for Hate School. The goal is for all students to feel like they belong, are accepted, and safe while at PVSEA.
Bell Schedule-Calendar
ATTENDANCE
Daily attendance is important. All students must be in their classroom seats at 8:10 when attendance is taken. After 8:10, they are tardy/absent. If the student arrives after the tardy bell at 8:10, they will need to be signed in late by their family inside the school office. All student absences must be reported each morning.
Thank you in advance for reporting all absences to our office. (805)383-5340
All Absences Must Be Reported
Every absence must be reported to our office, illness-related or otherwise.
When reporting an absence, include; First and last name of your child, the reason for absence, date(s) of absence, teacher, and grade level.
We want to keep our scholars in school, and to do this; we must all do our part to keep our school community healthy.
We love having our scholars at school, and they love being here!
Thank you in advance for reporting all absences to our office. (805)383-5340

All Welcome, All Belong at PVSEA
PVSEA is proud of our inclusive programs and practices that are offered at our school.
- Inclusive Classroom Practices: Our teachers are committed to creating inclusive learning environments where every student feels supported and empowered to succeed. We want to ensure that instructional strategies accommodate various learning styles and abilities and provide opportunities for equitable access to education and core content.
- Co-taught Classrooms: PVSEA is proud to be the home of two co-taught classrooms at the TK and Kindergarten levels. These classrooms are taught in tandem by a general education teacher and a special education teacher to help meet the needs of all students, with or without special education needs.
- Unified First Grade: This year we are incredibly excited to introduce the next step in our inclusive program options at PVSEA with a Unified First Grade class. This class will welcome both general education and special education students and be taught by a general education teacher; however, a special education teacher will co-teach for Language Arts and Math to provide equitable access to content and needed support for all students.
- Extensive Needs Preschool and TK/K: PVSEA is welcoming two new Extensive Needs classrooms to help support students in our community with disabilities that require more intensive supports and modified instruction.
