Hello McPherson Families,

This week, students may wear Valentine's themed free dress on Wednesday. There is also no school on Friday, 2/16 and Monday, 2/19, in observance of President's Day. The Education Foundation will be meeting on Tuesday at 7:00 pm in Room 500 or virtually.

Valentine Grams Will Be Delivered on Wednesday, February 14

Grams were sold Wednesday, 2/1 thru Friday, 2/9. Grams will be handed out on Wednesday, 2/14 to all classes.

Valentine Spirit Day - Wednesday, 2/14

Show your school spirit and wear red, pink, or white on Wednesday, February 14th. Students are allowed to wear jeans with Valentine’s Day attire. All spirit day attire must be school-appropriate.

When a group of people get together to work towards a common positive goal, not only the group, but also the school and the whole community benefits. Change starts with every one of us. One person cannot do the work, but when the work is done by a group of people, the weight is lighter and great things can be accomplished.

We are now taking nominations for members of McPherson’s PTSA for the following positions: Please consider nominating someone you know that will be a valuable asset to the PTSA board. Nominee must be a PTSA member. You can also nominate yourself. Without your help, we will not have a completed PTSA board for next year!!

Nominations must be submitted by Wednesday, February 28. Elections will take place on Wednesday, March 20 during the PTSA/Principal's Coffee Meeting.

Be part of the lasting legacy of McPherson by decorating a tile for the newest tile wall at McPherson. These tiles will be placed on the western exterior wall to the library building. We only have a limited number available so buy one today to secure your tile for decoration.

Many of you earned an opportunity to decorate a tile for our latest McPherson tile wall installation as part of the Fall fundraiser, and we thank you so much for your support! Please plan to attend one of the following dates for decorating your tile(s).

The days the tiles will be available to decorate after school are:

Monday, February 12th - 2pm-4pm

Wednesday, February 21st - 12:30pm-2:30pm

Friday, February 23rd - 2pm-4pm

In an effort to determine the best use of Orange Unified property that is either not being used or is being underutilized on the District’s properties, the Orange Unified School District is looking at how to better utilize these assets. Therefore, the District is currently forming what is referred to as a "7–11 Committee." If you would like to participate and are qualified, we invite you to apply to be a member of the Committee. Please see attachments for more information. Applications are due by February 23.

McPherson Magnet School is proudly participating in The Great Kindness Challenge from February 19 through February 23. It is a program dedicated to creating a culture of kindness and compassion in communities worldwide. To help our students practice kindness and put their compassion into action, they will receive a Great Kindness Challenge checklist on Thursday, February 15. We will encourage all students to complete as many acts of kindness as possible at school and hope they feel inspired to continue them at home. In the spirit of promoting Kindness at our school, please look at the pdf flyer attached for the weekly schedule for February 19 – February 23.

REMINDER - If your 6th-grade student has not turned in proof of the T-Dap vaccination before they enter 7th grade next year, they will not be able to register nor attend school until their T-Dap proof is turned in. Please make sure you turn in your T-Dap vaccination record before your student enters 7th grade for the 24/25 school year.

Attention McPherson Parents. We will be having a College and Career Fair on Monday, March 4 from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. If you would like to be a presenter or a volunteer at the College and Career Fair, please complete the linked survey below at your earliest convenience. You can present or volunteer at the fair for the whole day or part of the day depending on your availability.
