Weekly Update - May 4, 2025
Good morning,
Our weekly update for May 4th has been attached. Families are reminded that our fundraiser is ongoing and a limited number of extra tickets are still available. Our grand prize draw will take place on Friday, May 23rd.
Chartwells new ordering program is now available through the Nutrislice App or by ordering online through chartwellk12.ca. Families are encouraged to read through the family memo and question and answer document within our weekly update for further information.

Upcoming Spring Fundraiser
Paradise Intermediate will be having a "Spring Grand in your Hand" fundraiser that will be taking place over the next few weeks. Tickets were distributed to students prior to our Easter break. Tickets are $2.00 for a chance to win our three prizes ($1000.00, 300.00, 200.00). Our grand prize draw will take place on May 23rd. A limited number of extra tickets are available by request by emailing paradiseintermediate@nlesd.ca.
EFT Option - RYCOR
Rycor now accepts Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) as a payment method! This new option provides greater convenience and flexibility, ensuring a seamless and accessible payment experience for all users.
Parents can now choose EFT as a payment option alongside existing methods when making payments through Rycor. Transfers are accepted from all Canadian bank accounts, ensuring a seamless and flexible payment experience. We believe this enhancement will improve ease of use and better accommodate the diverse needs of our school communities. Please refer to the diagram below for a step-by-step guide on how to complete payments using EFT.
Chartwells - New Ordering Model
Chartwells will now be offering a pay-what-you-can model for our school. Orders can be placed through the Nutrislice App or online at chartwellsk12.ca.
The first ordering window for this new program will open today and run until May 7th. Families are advised that our cafeteria will be closed on Monday, May 12th as we work to transition to this new model which will officially begin food service on Tuesday, May 13th.

Upcoming Professional Learning Days
Families are advised that our next professional learning day for teachers will take place on Friday, May 16th. Our final professional learning day will take place on Friday, June 20th. There will be no school for students on either day.
Grade 9 - School Leaving Carnival
Our Grade 9 School Leaving Carnival is scheduled for Thursday, May 29th from 6-8pm. This is a special carnival type with games, activities and events offered to celebrate our Grade 9 graduating class!
We will be preparing a slideshow of baby pictures of our students playing on the TV's around the school throughout the evening. If you would like your child to be included in this display, please send a digital photo of your child as a baby or toddler to Ms. Atkinson at maggieatkinson@nlschools.ca by Friday, May 9th. If you have any questions about this please contact Ms. Atkinson.
More information regarding our carnival will be shared with families via email and through our RYCOR system. If there are families who would like to offer to volunteer their time or offer a donation for this event, please email paradiseintermediate@nlesd.ca.
PRMA - Provincial Reading and Math Assessments
This year both our grade 6 and grade 9 students will be completing the PRMAs. The assessment will take place during the last week of May for our students.
The PRMA is a one-hour assessment administered by teachers, alternating annually between reading and mathematics. Mathematics will be the focus in 2025. There is no student preparation required for the PRMA.
The PRMA will collect student data at a system-level. Sampling procedures will not provide school and student results.
Final Exams
Final exams will take place for our grades 7-9 students between Friday, June 13th - Thursday, June 19th. Please see attached document for final assessment schedule.
Students wishing to take a rewrite of their midterm exams are asked to have families email adminstration no later than Friday, May 9th. Final dates and schedule for rewrites will be confirmed following this date.
Study Hall
A reminder that we continue to offer regular study hall sessions for students in Grades 7-9 after school on Tuesday afternoons. This is meant as a quiet space for individual study and review with an opportunity to ask a teacher questions. An updated schedule for June will be available over the next few weeks.
