Principal Message
BRMS Families,
We are heading into the home stretch of the school year and I am so proud of our students. We still have a lot of learning and fun to be done this last month. Please make sure you look for important events coming up below.
This month, our focus will be on perseverance and integrity. Perseverance, defined as the determination to persist through challenges, is essential for fostering constructive self-talk, empathy, and personal development. Within our CKH community this month, we'll explore the concept of resilience, techniques for nurturing it, and strategies for its enhancement.
Additionally, we'll delve into the principle of integrity, which entails living with sincerity and striving for excellence. Within CKH families, we'll examine examples of individuals who embody integrity as well as those who do not. We'll also engage in discussions on making sound decisions when faced with difficult choices.
Respectfully,
Angel Perez
Counselor Corner
I can’t believe we are in the final month of school. The students are almost done with state testing and being rock stars about it. Let’s finish strong. Please remember to be checking your student’s grades and help them stay on top of work. Students will have to use perseverance and integrity to finish the year off. I will miss the 8th graders, but know they will be in great hands at the high school. I look forward to seeing the 7th and 6th graders coming back for their next adventure in middle school. If you have any questions for finishing this year or about the new school year please feel free to reach out.
Notes from Nurse
Benefits of Good Hygiene
Personal Hygiene refers to things we do to stay clean and take care of our body. Did you know that having good personal hygiene helps protect against illness, boosts self-confidence, improves academic performance and helps develop a good work ethic. So, what can we do to maintain good personal hygiene:
· Regular hand washing
· Practice good oral hygiene- Brush twice daily and floss
-Poor oral hygiene can lead to cardiovascular/heart issues
· Shower regularly
· Wear clean clothes every day
· Apply deodorant
Not only do we need to keep our bodies clean, we need to keep our space clean. A chaotic and/or messy space leads to less productivity due to reduced focus and increased anxiety and depression. There is a strong link between hygiene and mental health. Maintaining mental hygiene is just as important as personal hygiene.
· Satisfy basic needs: Adequate sleeping and eating.
· Have emotional intelligence- identify and interpret emotions, regulate their intensity in order to respond appropriately
· Set achievable goals
· Learn to relax, be mindful
· Be social/have a support system
· Exercise- helps with our physical body as well as aids in clearing the mind
When our mental health declines often our personal hygiene can decline as well. The same thing can be said for poor personal hygiene as it can set you up for feelings of loneliness from social isolation leading to depression and anxiety. Take care of your body and mind daily. Set reminders or a reward system and make them a daily habit.

Library News
End of the Year Book Returns
Last day to check out is May 3rd. All books will need to be returned starting May 6th.
We have some exciting news for next school year! The middle school will have its own full time library aide. This will allow the library to remain open everyday and to get more opportunities for events and activities. I could not be more excited for the kids, teachers and community! I will be housed full time at the high school and will be popping over every now and then to see everyone.
Thank you,
Ms. Turney
