7 Mindsets: Live to Give ~ Objective: Create a Legacy
The "Create a Legacy" objective is the culmination of the 7 Mindsets' Live to Give philosophy, which encourages children to understand the importance of giving, contributing, and leaving a positive, lasting impact on the world. At the heart of this concept is the idea that the choices we make today can ripple out, shaping the future for generations to come. A legacy isn’t about wealth or material possessions, but rather about the values we pass on, the lives we touch, and the difference we make in our communities.
To create a legacy is to live with purpose, knowing that our actions and decisions can influence others and leave behind something meaningful. It's about living in a way that reflects kindness, compassion, and a dedication to making the world better for those who come after us. For kids, it’s an opportunity to think beyond themselves and consider how their words, actions, and choices can create a lasting, positive impact.
"Live to Give" is all about adopting a mindset where we prioritize serving others and contributing to the greater good. By doing so, we not only improve the lives of those around us but also create a legacy of generosity, compassion, and kindness. Living to give means using your resources, talents, and energy to benefit others, and in turn, this selflessness becomes part of the lasting legacy we leave behind.
Ways We Can Leave a Legacy:
- Acts of Kindness: Small gestures of kindness can have an enormous impact on others, often inspiring them to do the same.
- Sharing Talents and Skills: Teaching others, offering help, or simply sharing what we know can create a ripple effect that lasts for generations.
- Living with Integrity: The way we choose to behave—being honest, respectful, and compassionate—sets a foundation for others to follow.
- Making a Difference in the Community: Contributing time, effort, or resources to causes we care about can leave a positive mark on the world around us.
How You Can Help Kids Embrace the Concept of Living a Legacy:
- Model Generosity: Show them by example how to give, whether through volunteer work, sharing resources, or simply showing kindness.
- Encourage Empathy: Help them recognize the impact their actions can have on others by discussing the importance of empathy and understanding.
- Talk About Purpose: Help children see the bigger picture by discussing how their small actions today can build a positive legacy over time.
- Set Goals for Giving Back: Encourage them to set personal goals for how they can give to others—whether it’s helping a friend, donating to a cause, or volunteering in the community.
- Celebrate Giving Moments: Celebrate when they make a positive impact on others, reinforcing the idea that even small acts can create lasting change.
By teaching children to live with intention and give to others, we empower them to create a meaningful legacy that will not only enrich their lives but inspire those around them to do the same.

What is C.A.R.E?
Guiding Success: Understanding C.A.R.E.
Expectations and Behavior Responses at Kelly Mill
At Kelly Mill Elementary, we teach all students what it means to be Connected, Accountable, Respectful, and Engaged (C.A.R.E.) in every area of the school. We reinforce these behaviors through praise, rewards, and privileges to highlight the importance of following these expectations. However, we recognize that sometimes students may struggle to meet them, and that’s where our behavior response flowchart comes in. This flowchart guides staff in responding to various behaviors, ensuring consistency and fairness. It outlines steps for addressing challenges while teaching and reshaping behavior. If a student encounters difficulties, we use the flowchart to determine the appropriate level of intervention—whether that involves reteaching expectations, providing additional support, or implementing consequences if the behavior does not improve.

Student Meal Information
Our new online meal payment program this school year is myschoolbucks.com It allows parents to make payments to the student’s meal account with a debit or credit card. This online service can help parents monitor their child's account balance, view account transactions and history, set-up auto-payments, and receive low balance alerts. Signing up is easy.
There are many advantages to using our online payment solution:
- Accepts credit card prepayments 24 hours per day.
- Funds are usually available to students at the school within 24 hours.
- Automated update to student accounts within 24 to 48 hours.
- Can set low balance notifications so they never run out of funds.
- Can set for automatic payments when balance reaches your pre-set amount.
- Access to view your child’s account balance and purchasing habits at any time.
- Balance from last school year will be available to your student on the first day of school.
- Faster meal lines, decreased customer wait time.
- Registration and credit card information is protected with the most advanced internet security.
- There is even a mobile app for making meal pre-payments while on the go.
Of course, meal payments can also be made by sending cash or checks (payable to the school cafeteria) to school with your child.
Simply register at myschoolbucks.com for the convenience of transferring funds to your child's meal account. With a valid credit card/debit card or checking account, transfers are easy to do from home or when using a smartphone. Parents/guardians must use the student's 6-digit ID number (including leading zeros) and school name to register to have access to place money on their child’s account. If parents/guardians do not know their child’s student ID, please contact the school office. This online payment service has a transaction fee for the total transaction amount no matter how many student accounts are funded. This fee goes directly to the service provider, not to Forsyth Co. Schools or to the Nutrition Program.
Meal Cost:
- Breakfast $1.70
- Lunch $3.00
