Winter Sing- December 13
Winter is one of the most magical times of the year and our students are very excited to perform and show off their hard work.
NEW THIS YEAR: There will be two concerts performed on the morning of December 13. 4K through second grade will perform from 8:30-9:00am. There will be a brief intermission for 4K-2 families to leave the gym and have 3-5 parents enter. At 9:15 third grade through fifth grade will perform. Each performance will be approximately 30 minutes.
Why the change? Over the past few years attendance for the Winter Sing has grown to a point where families were in the hallways and not able to view the performance of their child. This will allow families to come and watch their child's performance in a way that we hope everyone can have a great view of the concert.
Music News
Welcome to music with Mrs. Ibach (eye-bah). My goal is to create life-long appreciators of music. In the primary grades, we have been focusing on beat vs. rhythm. Beat is steady like your heart while the rhythm has long and short notes. We have enjoyed learning dances, songs, and using beanie babies to practice using our voice in different ways. In Third grade we have been learning about meter, or the organization of strong and weak beats to provide structure to a song. We have enjoyed playing meter tag as well as meter safari to practice identifying meters in music we hear. 4th and 5th graders are working on playing various instruments as a group and singing in two and three parts. Some instruments we have been using are xylophones, boomwhackers, bongos, agogo bells, shakers, and more.
Looking forward, we are all preparing for the Winter Sing! Join us on December 13th to celebrate the culmination of all our hard work. See flyer (above) for more information. Thank you for welcoming me into the Lincoln Family! It is a joy to work with your students.
Attendance Matters
Our goal at Lincoln is for every student to attend school at minimum 90% of school days! Last month we had over 300 students meet our goal for the month!
Lego League
On Thursday 4th and 5th graders participated in an in school Lego League competition. They worked hard these past two months. They learned to problem solve and the importance of teamwork.
On December 8th, the other 5th grade team will be competing at the High School at the official Whitewater competition.

7 Mindsets- We are Connected
The Importance of Relationships
The We Are Connected Mindset teaches us that everyone who comes into our lives can help us to achieve and live our dreams. Working with, for, and through others is crucial to realizing our dreams. When you understand this and constantly seek the positives from relationships with others, your performance in every area of your life improves. In the lessons for this mindset, we help students explore synergies with others, embrace diversity, and relish the competition that will allow them to maximize their potential by working with and through others.
Family Teacher Partnership (FTP) News and Notes
On Wednesday, December 11 at 6:15pm the FTP will have their monthly meeting in the Library at Lincoln Elementary. Childcare is available in the cafeteria and Spanish interpretation will be provided during the meeting.
