Student Parking
Students, please be advised to follow all designated parking signs at the front of the school and at Festival Place. These lots are patrolled by Strathcona County Bylaw Enforcement, and you could be subject to a ticket if parked illegally. Students are welcome to park in the front of the school and in Festival Place during the school day. At times, Festival Place will be closed to students during the dance festival season. We strive to communicate these changes as they arise. As responsible drivers, the onus is up to you to drive and park responsibly. This year, all Salisbury staff and EIPS staff parking has been moved to the back of the school to accommodate more student parking.
Parking at Salisbury April 28, 2025:
Please inform your students that Salisbury has been selected as a Federal Election polling station on Monday, April 28, so parking will be challenging for that day. Please remember students need to park in the student designated parking at the front of the school or in Festival Place.
SRO's Corner
With Spring here and many students choosing to ride their bikes to school, I wanted to share some tips to protect your bicycles from theft. Theft of a bike can take just minutes, but the inconvenience and financial loss will last much longer.
Please consider the following tips:
· Never leave your bike unlocked in public.
· Never lock your bike by the front wheel only.
· Consider the use of two quality locks: use a U-lock and a cable lock. By using more than one style of lock it will take thieves two types of tools and twice as much time to steal your bike.
· Take the extra step and remove the seat or a wheel as an extra deterrent.
· Avoid leaving your bike on or in your vehicle.
· If storing your bike at your residence, store it in a safe location using a lock or on your property inside a locked area.
· If you are leaving your bikes in the back of a vehicle, lock them to your vehicle. Choose appropriate places to park.
In the event your bike is stolen, there are a few things you can do to police identify your bike:
· Record serial numbers (regardless of the value of the bike) so that they can be added to police computer records, helping bikes be identified if located.
· Photograph your bike, as a reference, to assist police in identification.
· Most bike stores keep serial numbers and information of your purchased bike. Check with your local bike shop to obtain that information if your bike does get stolen.
With warmer weather here, students are spending more time off school property and at the local businesses during school breaks. This is a reminder to be a good neighbour to the residents and businesses in the area. Loud and rowdy behaviour, as well as large crowds do not make for good relationships with your school neighbours. If you are entering a neighbouring business to make a purchase, be respectful of other patrons.
