Patriot Day at Earl and GES
To honor Patriot Day, EES troops led the school in the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence. They spoke to their peers about heroes, community service and the importance of being #EarlStrong.
Mrs. Knowles, 4th grade teacher, read The Survivor Tree. The students created their own tree and covered it in leaves, sharing times when they have been courageous.

Scouting Tradition Continues at GES
Submitted by Mrs. Petri, GES Principal
On Wednesday, September 11, Gilbertsville Elementary School took a moment to recognize Patriot Day. All students and staff were invited to wear red, white, and blue. Students involved in scouts were encouraged to wear their uniform to school to help with our building wide announcement.
During our announcement, we recognized the importance of remembering this day, took a moment of silence to honor the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for our community and nation. The scouts then led the school in the pledge of allegiance. Students were encouraged to join together in the American spirit by lending a helping hand throughout the school.
Pictured below are the scouts who participated in our schoolwide announcement.

Community Update:
BASD's Dean of Students Steps in at NHUF
Last week, families, staff, and students at NHUF were notified that Principal Rohn will be out on leave for approximately 6 to 8 weeks beginning September 30th. Mr. Rohn introduced Mrs.Rothermel, BASD's Dean of Students, who has been with BASD for 20 years. She will step in during his absence to provide administrative leadership at the building. The two are spending this week transitioning all day-to-day functions to Mrs. Rothermel in preparation for the change. We wish the best to both of them.

Press Release: Pennsylvania Philharmonic Announces Upcoming School Concerts
Written by Shawn Stone, Digital Communications & Marketing Manager
Conducted by William Wright, the Pennsylvania Philharmonic will perform six concerts in October in the following school districts: Bethlehem on October 7 & 8, Boyertown# & Oley on October 11, and North Penn* on October 17. Students in 4th-8th grades will be participating in the program.
The 2024-2025 season’s new music education and wellness program is titled, Reach for the Stars, and highlights the importance of setting goals, having courage and showing perseverance in our lives through music inspired by space exploration. The program includes excerpts of works by Bates, Zare, Debussy, Holst, Copland, Beethoven, and film composer John Williams.
A virtual version of Reach for the Stars is also available to any school district in the state that requests access at no charge.
Each year close to 15,000 children experience the wonder of orchestral music through this education initiative. Educational and engaging concert narration, preparation materials, and school visits give students the knowledge needed to grasp the music in greater depth. By understanding works in context, students develop a lifelong desire to hear orchestral music and a personal connection to the Pennsylvania Philharmonic.
Michael Jordan, Director of Bands at Boyertown Area School District, says that “Our partnership with the Pennsylvania Philharmonic has proven to be a successful undertaking in the district, that indicates “a wealth of support for the study of music in our community. We will be continuing to find ways to enhance our collaboration and to enrich the musical lives of our students.”
Pennsylvania Philharmonic wishes to thank its sponsors who support this wonderful initiative: The
Hill School, Cody Systems, Key Bank, Ellis Investment Partners, Hankin Group, Switchpoint Foundation, SEI Cares Foundation, Justamere Foundation, Joe & Linda Voytilla and special thanks to Scott & Susan Bentley.

About Pennsylvania Philharmonic
We believe music education and the arts are fundamentally important and beneficial to the lives of all people, and we use the symphony concert experience as a catalyst for academic advancement, creativity, joy, and personal growth.
Our school programs account for more than 70% of our performances. While educational in nature, our concerts are designed to entertain and engage students in the world of art music. By providing children with an introduction to a high-quality symphony orchestra, we hope to spark their interest in music, encourage them to learn an instrument, and inspire them to be participants in the arts throughout their lifetimes. The arts open the hearts and minds of our youth, and empower them to imagine their own potential.
