We are excited to welcome our students back for another semester at JCMS! As we jump into a new semester, here are five tips to help you reach the road to success!

📚 1️⃣ Set New Goals

• Reflect on last semester. What can you improve? Set specific goals to stay motivated!

🗂️ 2️⃣ Get Organized

• Clean your backpack, locker, and folders. Use your agenda to track your assignments, quizzes, and tests.

✅ 3️⃣ Build Good Habits

• Review notes daily, complete homework on time, and minimize distractions.

🤝 4️⃣ Stay Connected

• Ask questions, talk to your teachers, and build positive relationships with classmates.

💤 5️⃣Take Care of Yourself

• Get enough sleep, eat well, and make time for fun activities.

It's that time of year when we do not always know how the weather will affect the school day...this is Indiana, of course! After three eLearning days (students work online at their own pace), JCSC will move to virtual learning days where students complete their instruction live through Google Meets from their teachers.

Here is our virtual learning plan (live instruction) for JCMS:

• Students will be required to complete a Google Form for attendance purposes. This will be sent to student school emails each morning of virtual learning. Teachers will also be taking attendance during each Google Meet. Students will access their class materials, Google Meet links, and other class information from each classes Google Classroom.

• The Panther Den staff, Mrs. Brown (lbrown@jcsc.org) and Mrs. Galyen (ggalyen@jcsc.org) will be available during the day to offer academic support to students. Both teachers will have Meets available to students.

Here is a quick introduction from Mr. McKinney. We are excited to have him join the JCMS Family and work with our students!

Hi, I am Gavin McKinney! I am a graduate of Anderson University where I studied for a Bachelors in Social Work and Political Science. I then pursued my Masters degree in Social Work at Indiana Wesleyan University. I have over a year of experience working in public schools as a social work/ behavioral therapist. What excites me the most about taking the counselor position at JCMS is that I get to use my degree and experience to make a positive impact in the community that raised me. In addition to being a counselor here at JCMS, I also coach Girls Soccer at Muscatatuck United and I am the JCHS Boys Assistant Soccer Coach. I am thrilled and blessed to have these opportunities where I can make a holistic impact throughout Jennings County.

This school year, JCMS started implementing an Student Resource Time (SRT) period where students are able to work on assignments and for additional support on their work from teachers. Last semester, we had a daily plan for students to follow. This semester, we have a similar plan with a couple of changes. See the poster below for the daily schedule.

*Note: The Parent Meeting could change due to potential weather.

Reminder: to participate in athletics, student athletes MUST have a sports physical on file at JCMS and must be registered on Final Forms.

Schneck Urgent Care at 1124 Medical Pl. Seymour, IN 47274 is open from 8 am to 8 pm Monday-Friday and 8 am to 5 pm Saturday and Sunday. This location offers sports physicals for $25 cash/debit/credit (meaning they do not run insurance)

If your athlete attended tonight’s after school workout and did not have a physical on file, they received a form that can be filled out and taken to their physical. Having this filled out ahead of time will make your trip much quicker. If they do not have a form, they can get one from the JCMS athletic office!

Many students often want to know ahead of time what is served for lunch each day. Here is the upcoming menu for the month of January. We appreciate all of the time and effort our lunch crew puts into making our lunches each day. Thank you to all of them!
