Marion County Healthcare Mini Grant Winners
We are excited to announce that our first round of grants to staff has been successfully funded! A total of 14 recipients received checks, and we were able to provide $61,250. We are extremely grateful to the Marion County Healthcare Foundation for their generous support, which has made it possible for our students to have innovative learning experiences.
Aramark News
Aramark has been busy this month serving lunch at the middle schools. They introduced an Asian-themed chicken bowl, where students could select their desired ingredients to be mixed together by Chef Paul and Chef Landry. The action stations were a hit with both students and staff!
Gerald Evans Wins MCSDproud Award
During the April Board Meeting, the Marion County School District paid tribute to Gerald Evans for being the recipient of the MCSDproud award for the month of April. Mr. Evans has consistently demonstrated a remarkable commitment to supporting students, particularly male students facing behavioral challenges, to ensure their academic success. His mentorship has been instrumental in enabling students to thrive and benefit from his guidance. His visits are eagerly awaited by the students, who greatly benefit from his guidance.

Karaoke in the Park
We had an amazing time at Karaoke in the Park. The event was filled with fun, laughter, and fellowship, and we were thrilled to see so much talent in our Marion County community. We extend our gratitude to all who attended. Thank you to the MCSD Parent and Community Engagement Department for hosting such a fun event.
Honors Night at Florence Darlington Technical College
Congratulations to all the exceptional students who were recognized at the Florence Darlington Technical College Honors Night for their achievements in the Early College Program. Their dedication, hard work, and passion for learning have paid off in a remarkable way.

Xavier Legette
Congratulations to Xavier Legette, a 2019 Mullins High School alumnus! We are incredibly proud of him for being drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft. He serves as a positive role model for both our community and school district. Go be great, X!!
School Arts Support Grant Winners
The Marion County School District congratulates the following teachers who have won the "School Arts Support" grants worth $2,500 each, provided by the South Carolina Arts Commission. These funds will enhance their innovative efforts to bring further excellence to the Arts programs.

30- Day Reading Challenge
The Parenting and Community Engagement Department of the Marion County School District spearheaded a reading challenge campaign across all of its schools during February and March. The initiative was facilitated by the Reading Coach or Career Facilitator of each school. The class with the highest number of readers in each school was awarded free books for every student, while the school with the highest number of parent and community readers received a one-year trophy. A total of 265 parents and community members participated district-wide, and Creek Bridge Stem Academy emerged as the district winner with 149 readers. We extend our deep appreciation to the parents and community readers for their invaluable contribution towards fostering a love for reading among our students.
