The deadline for PEF scholarships is quickly approaching, as most scholarships close on January 31, 2025, at 11:30 pm.
Hello Graduating Senior!
The deadline to complete your application to the Public Education Foundation General Application, and all scholarship applications, is coming up on January 31, 2025!

Please remember that after you "submit" your application, you will see all of the scholarship opportunities you qualify for and can begin applying for those as well.

In order to be able to apply for scholarships, please complete the following steps:
Complete the general application here and click the blue βbeginβ button.
After answering the questions and uploading your current high school transcript, financial need statement, resume, letter of recommendation, and βselfieβ you need to βSubmitβ the application.
If you do not have your items ready to upload, you can put in a blank document or a placeholder, and then βsubmit.β However, remember to go back in and edit the application to add your documents and submit again.
NOTE: You can go back and edit the general application as many times as you want until January 31, 2025. Please hit βsubmitβ after each edit so the list of your eligible scholarship opportunities is refreshed.
APPLY for scholarships! Once you have hit the βsubmitβ button, you will see a list of all scholarships you qualify for. Make sure to click on each scholarship to find out if you need any further documentation, so you have time to gather any other documentation necessary.
Check back frequently to see what other scholarships may become available. Continue to apply for as many scholarships as you want!

Coronado Graduation Date has been Announced!
Academic Planning for Juniors
Coronado Juniors will meet one-on-one with their counselors the first two weeks of February for academic planning. They will discuss credits (earned/required/needed) and will talk about class scheduling options for next year. These face-to-face sessions are essential to ensure CHS students are on track for graduation.
These important meetings will occur during English classes following the schedule below. There will be makeup times for students that aren't available on the day their class is scheduled.

Contribute If You Can - Such a Great Cause!
Clothing Drive February 18 through March 1 ~ to benefit the Healing Center at St. Jude's Ranch for Children. Please consider dropping off your gently used clothing, shoes and accessories to the CHS Counseling Office or the Social Work Office.
The Healing Center is the only residential treatment center in Southern Nevada for child victims of sex trafficking - and one of only a few in the country dedicated to moving young people from victim to survivor.

American Legion's Nevada Girls State and Boys State ~ Summer of 2025
Are you ready to embark on an unforgettable journey in leadership and civic engagement? Look no further than the American Legion's Nevada Girls State and Boys State programs. Held annually at the University of Nevada-Reno campus in Reno, these programs offer a hands-on experience in democratic processes and governance. Through setting up their own miniature governments and participating in mock legislative sessions, delegates gain invaluable insight into the workings of city, county, and state administrations. Engage in lively debates, campaign for office, and hone your leadership skills alongside like-minded peers. Join us for an empowering week of learning, friendship, and growth at Girls State and Boys State this summer!

Register for ASVAB Testing at CHS Today!
Hello Students and Parents,
Take advantage of FREE ACT/SAT Test Prep! Take the ASVAB!!
Coronado will be hosting the ASVAB on Wednesday, February 12th. The ASVAB can be used for ACT/SAT and free practice testlets, career exploration, or military entrance. This test is optional and will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.
***JUNIORS & SOPHOMORES: Great ACT Prep for FREE!
Students need to arrive by 6:45 a.m. They will report to the cafeteria for testing. Students must bring their laptop or Chromebook fully charged, as this will be done electrically. If students do not have a school issued chromebook one may be provided.
Test Date: Wednesday, February 12, 2025
Location: Coronado Cafeteria
Time: 6:45 am- 9:45 am
Attendance will be excused following the event. Immediately following the completion of the assessment, score interpretation will be reviewed. Students will need to follow up with teachers to make up any missing assignments as they are still responsible for the work assigned the day of the test.

One-on-One FAFSA Assistance for Senior Parents and Students
Dear Senior Parents and Students,
Weβre pleased to offer one-on-one assistance for completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This session will be held on:
- Thursday, February 6th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Location: Coronado High School Library
This opportunity is open to all senior parents and students who are preparing for college, university, or an accredited trade school. Instead of a formal presentation, we will work directly with you during the session to complete your FAFSA application.
To make the most of your time, please ensure you are prepared with the following:
- FSA IDs for both the parent and the student: These should be completed or registered in advance at FSA ID Registration.
- Tax documents: Have your most recent tax documents available and on hand.
Completing the FAFSA is a critical step for every senior planning to attend a post-secondary institution. If you have any questions or concerns, donβt hesitate to reach out to me directly.

The City of Henderson Battle of the Bands competition is back for its 5th year, and they are looking for young artists and bands to enter! All genres and styles of music are welcome.
