CES Happenings
Dear CES Family,
Our sixth-grade students kicked off their Outdoor FREd experience with four days and three nights of camp in Meadow Valley last week. What at time! In addition to learning lots about the wonderful place that we live, they also had opportunities to do many things that they have never done before or may never do again, such as a nine mile hike to the top of Spanish Peak and a rather frigid polar bear plunge. What a week! See the picture here and also the collage below.
There are multiple, special collages associated with this newsletter that capture many great facets of our students. Check them out! Love our kids. Thanks to Mrs. Gerbatz and Mrs. Crowther for their artful work. Thanks also to our teachers for their picture contributions.
I'd like to draw your attention to a collage that features a CES teaching legend, Mrs. J. For those of you that are long-time locals that went to school at CES "back in the day", you will recall how special she is. Magical. A couple of my own kids benefitted greatly from being in her classroom. She is still making appearances on our campus and, in this case, she is pictured reading to first-grade students in Mrs. Crowther's class.
Sincerely,
Scott Cory

Honored Student
The most recent PCOE/PUSD Board meeting took place in Chester last week. These meetings rotate throughout the county during the school year. When they are local, I have a chance to honor a CES student at the meeting, for which that student receives public recognition and a certificate from the Board. This time, I had the pleasure of honoring fifth-grader Kinley Robbins. What a Volcano! Her teacher, Mrs. Gibbs, had some special things to say about Kinley. Here are a few: "incredibly responsible, very high academically, polite, respectful, sensitive and caring towards others and a great big buddy to younger students." The Robbins family is relatively new to CES and we sure are glad to have them as a part of our CES family.
News from the Nurse
We are fortunate to have access to both a school nurse (Mrs. Logan) and a health office clerk (Ms. Posch) to provide services to our students. Click here to access the Chester Weekly Nurse Newsletter!
