Parent Survey to inform Title Programs
We are asking all families to complete our 2024 Mississippi Parent and Family Survey. The information collected from this survey will help our School Leadership Team make changes for the next school year that support the success of students, staff and families. Please complete the survey only once for your household/address by Monday, April 12th. Thank you for your time.
Upcoming MCA State Tests - Grades 3-5 Only
Each year students in public schools across the state take the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA). Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will take the MCA in reading and mathematics online. Students in grade 5 will also take an online science test. If you have a student who receives Special Education services, their IEP team will determine whether or not a test accommodation should be made or whether an alternate assessment is appropriate.
The MCA math and reading tests will be given in school between April 16 - April 25.
The fifth grade MCA science test will be given in school between May 1 - May 2.
The MCA is considered “high stakes” for schools and students and the results are extremely important. The state monitors whether schools and districts meet certain targets to make sure our students progress toward high standards. These tests are used to measure accountability and academic progress under federal and state regulation. They may also be used as part of students’ course placement decisions and determination of interventions needed.
Testing Tips
Please make sure your child is in school for these tests as good attendance is a key factor for overall student success. In addition, here are some test-taking tips to keep in mind:
Be sure your child gets plenty of rest (this is important all the time, but especially for test days).
Eat healthy, balanced meals, and have a good breakfast on test day.
Remind your children not to get discouraged if they don’t know an answer.
Students are reminded that a suggested strategy is to select the best choice at that time and go back to review questions at the end of the testing section.
When to expect results
Student results and an explanation of how to interpret the scores will be mailed to parents or guardians in the fall. Preliminary results for the online math, reading, and science test will be available sooner through A-HConnect. Early results are considered preliminary, as they may change slightly after post-test data reviews are completed. Please watch the school newsletter for further information.

Parent Educator News
With warmer weather, kids want to spend more time outside. Whether your child is wanting to ride their bike, go on walks or play with friends, it is important to remind them about safety rules. It is also important as a caregiver to scaffold how to take calculated and informed risks. This includes trying the monkey bars on the playground, looking both ways when crossing the street or learning a new skill that scares them. Here are some strategies and ideas to support your child's risk taking and safety development.
