This school-parent compact is in effect during 2019-2020 school year.
School Responsibilities

Provide opportunities for parents to volunteer and participate in their child’s class and observe classroom activities upon completion of the Visitor Observation form and coordination with the teacher.
Provide a mutually respectful relationship between all parties (students, parents, teachers, and volunteers).
2. Hold parent-teacher conferences (at least annually in elementary schools) during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement.

4. Provide parents reasonable access to staff. Specifically, staff will be available for consultation with parents as follows:
- Parents are able to reach staff members by calling the school and leaving a message or via email.
- Staff members will respond to messages and emails within 24 hours.
- Parents are also able to meet with staff members by completing a Visitor Observation form and setting up a meeting ahead of time.
- Individual teachers might have other means of communication available. ie:) Class Dojo, Remind101.
5. Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class, and to observe classroom activities, as follows:
- Upon completing a Visitor Observation form and with a 24-hour notice, parents are allowed to observe in their child’s classroom any time they wish for up to 30 minutes. However, as to not disrupt the classroom, teachers will not be able to conference with parents during this time.
- Interested volunteers should complete the volunteer application found on Pickerington Local Schools website. Level 1 volunteers are able to volunteer in classrooms under the supervision of a PLSD employee. Level 2 volunteers are able to work with students individually, but must submit to a background check.
Many parents are asked at each grade level to volunteer for classroom learning centers, reading with students, helping the classroom with various projects, field trips, etc…
