Students,
We've almost made it to the end of the year! Summer is a great time to prepare for the next school year. That may include retaking the ACT, visiting a college campus, getting involved in your communities by volunteering, or participating in summer activities. This is a also a good time to update and add to your Activities Resume. Scroll down to see a list of some activities you can participate in this summer!
Seniors,
Don't forget to...
- fill out a housing application and submit your deposit
- sign up for New Student Orientation
- write thank-you's for each scholarship you have received
- send your Northeast transcript to the college you are attending in the fall to receive credit for your dual credit classes (note: if you are attending Northeast, you do not have to do this)
Juniors, stay on track to college by...
- Narrowing your college choices to three or four. Visit your top choices.
- Become familiar with the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). You and your parents can complete this form on or after October 1 to apply for college financial aid.
- Update your Activities Resume.
- Consider retaking the ACT this summer.
Summer Camps and Experiences
HOBY Youth Leadership Seminar
HOBY's flagship program, the annual Nebraska HOBY Leadership Seminar, is designed specifically for sophomore students.
This year’s seminar is scheduled for Friday, June 7 – Sunday, June 9, 2024. The seminar will be held on the campus of Northeast Community College in Norfolk, NE.
Each school is invited to select and send up to four students to attend the seminar. The fee to attend the seminar is $280 per student, which includes housing, programming, and meals. There are funds available to cover the cost. Please see Mrs. Reese if you are interested.
Volunteering Opportunities at Faith Regional Health Services
Faith Regional Health Services has a variety of ways and departments students can volunteer with! A few requirements are:
Fourteen years of age
Completion of an application
Completion of a background check
Parental Consent

Northeast Health and Public Services Expo
Working in health and public services related fields is rewarding! Explore these fields and take the next steps to discovering a successful and fulfilling career.
- Hands-on activities will be led by instructors and health and public services professionals.
- Ask questions and learn from professionals in various fields of health and public services.
- Visit one-on-one with faculty about the college application process, admission requirements and student experience.
- Lunch will be included.
Students will participate in sessions with Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistant, Health Information Management, and Paramedic programs.
Students will have the opportunity to receive training in Basic Life Support and receive BLS Certification!

UNK Health Science Explorers Summer Camp
UNK Health Sciences is offering multiple camps for students in the summer of 2024! These camps will provide hands-on activities, engaging simulations and knowledge of healthcare careers.
The cost for camps at UNK is $50 per student. Lunch and a t-shirt are included. Please note, each student needs to register separately. Limited to 24 per camp and registration closes 2 weeks prior to each date or when camp is full. Register Here

WSC Summer Music Camp
June 24-27, 2024
The Wayne State College Summer Music Camp is the perfect opportunity to explore your musical interests in a fun and positive environment. You'll get a variety of experiences while learning from professional musicians who are experts in their fields. In addition to taking unique music courses, the camp will include social activities. You'll get to make friends with others who share your love for music, and you have the option to live on campus during your time here.

Resident campers: $325 (includes meals and housing)
Commuting campers: $275 (includes meals but no housing)
WSC Speech Camp
June 17-21, 2024
This speech camp will feature sessions from award-winning coaches and competitors on Program Oral Interpretation, Humorous and Dramatic Interpretation, Extemporaneous Speaking, Persuasion, Duo Interpretation/Duet Acting, and Informative Speaking. There will also be an advanced writing section for experienced students in public address. Students of all abilities and levels of experience are welcome.
