A Field Trip that Rewrote the Rule Book!
As part of the broad and balanced curriculum we off at Lister, there is a special place for the geography field trip. During our time at school, such trips always involved wellies and and rain-coats and the guarantee of muddy fields. As you will see with the following pictures and report, times have changed and geography field trips are clearly more glamourous. Below we have a well worded and passionate account of the day from Mr Hussain, curriculum lead for geography.
Our rivers fieldwork trip was nothing short of legendary with our brilliant Year 11s! We embarked on an epic adventure, wading through pristine waters that shimmered like liquid diamonds. The riverbanks were alive with lush, emerald-green forests and mudflats, and the sound of rushing water was like nature’s own symphony. We uncovered geological wonders that felt as ancient as time itself, and the data we collected? Absolutely ground-breaking—sure to rewrite the science books! It was an unparalleled journey where every moment felt like we were discovering the very heartbeat of the Earth.
Road Safety at Lister
Roads are essential to our everyday lives. We all use them in some way, by driving, riding, walking or travelling as a passenger, and we depend on them to obtain goods and services.
Unfortunately, this comes at a price, which includes people being killed and injured. However, road deaths and injuries are not inevitable. The last few decades have demonstrated that effective and comprehensive road safety strategies can reduce the number of people killed or injured on the road, despite increasing traffic levels. Great Britain now has one of the best road safety records in the world - but with around five people still dying on Britain's roads every day there is much more to be done. We take our responsibility for your child's safety very seriously at Lister - as part of our pastoral curriculum, we invited 'Riot Act' to present to year 7 on the importance of actively being safe on the roads and using strategies that will keep them safe.
Student Leadership at Lister
The next most senior rank of leadership is found with our prefects. These students, from KS4, regularly meet with our Headteacher, Ms Clay to communicate on the vision they have for making improvements in our school. Alongside and maybe even slightly above our prefects sit the head girl and head boy, with their deputies. This group have a direct line to the leadership team at Lister and can seen at most public events taking place at Lister - including giving speeches at the recent parent information evenings!
