Dear Middlebrook Families,
NO SCHOOL - Monday, January 20th
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a national holiday honoring the life and legacy of Dr. King, a leader who fought for equality, justice, and peace. Dr. King was known for his work during the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 1960s, where he worked tirelessly to end segregation and ensure that all people, regardless of their skin color, were treated fairly and equally.
Dr. King is perhaps most famous for his leadership in nonviolent protests and his inspiring speeches, including the famous "I Have a Dream" speech, where he shared his vision of a world where everyone is judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin.
On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we reflect on the progress made in the fight for civil rights and continue to encourage kindness, respect, and fairness in our communities. It is also a time to think about how we can make a positive difference in the world, just as Dr. King did.
We encourage families to talk about Dr. King's message with their children, share stories of his courage and vision, and find ways to give back to the community through acts of service, as Dr. King believed in the power of service to help build a better world.
Together, let's honor his memory by striving to create a kinder, more just world for everyone.
On a separate note, we conducted a lockdown/stay-put drill this week, and both students and staff performed exceptionally well. Practice is essential because it ensures everyone knows how to respond quickly and effectively in an emergency, helping to keep everyone safe. Great job to everyone involved!
Enjoy the long weekend,
Ms. Ponte
Ms. Molloy

Sacred Heart University Hockey Game
A special shout out to our amazing Fathers Club for organizing this event at the Martire Arena. It was wonderful to see so many Middlebrook students come together for a night of friendship and hockey!
Kindergarten
Kindergarten had an in school field trip today with the Trumbull Nature and Arts Center. They learned all about habitats, and even got up close with a multitude of bird nests. We are always fortunate to have Mr. Ceneri work with our children. His knowledge and ability to educate children is exceptional.
Binky Blankets
On Thursday evening, staff members and Grade 5 student, Eva, gave their time to create Binky blankets for the California fire victims. Eva came with her older sister and made 5 blankets. She was lucky enough to be the final volunteer to make the 100th blanket of the evening. We are always so proud of our students who give their time freely to help those in need!
