COLLABORATION AT ITS FINEST
The month at AHS we focused on team building activities. Whether it be our Pep Rally, Annual Door Decorating Contest, Concerts, Gingerbread Houses, Class trees, Innovative Science Labs, Holiday Performances, Sewing Project, Clothing Drives, awesome work by our Intergenerational Club, or Presents for the Needy, our focus was to build a climate of inclusiveness during the holiday season. AHS was an incredibly vibrant place for out students during the holidays. Hopefully the sense of family radiated within our school!
Art Students Create Gingerbread Houses
The Audubon Art students worked with others in the Wave program to create some EPIC gingerbread houses. They have been on display in the Media Center since early December. Their designs are truly spectacular.

Winter Choir Concert A Success
The Annual Winter Choir Concert was held on December 13th, at 7:00pm in the AHS Auditorium. The Junior High Chorus, Senior High Concert Choir, and the Choral Ensemble performed various winter, holiday, and multicultural works, including the traditional candlelight processional. All of the students have worked very hard to present an excellent program!
Creative Technology Students, Skills For Living Students Create Cookie Cutters
Students in Creative Technology worked with Ms. Waite's Skills for Living class to create 3D printed cookie cutters. Creative Technology students also created their own personal cookie cutters using Google Sketchup. Students made 3D models and turned in STL files to be printed. They were able to create these unique cookie cutters just in time for the holiday baking season!
8th Grade Social Studies Classes Create Statues of Citizenship
The 8th Grade Social Studies classes put on a competition to create the next great American Statue of Citizenship! The classes have learned about civic duties, rights, responsibilities and core values over the last few weeks. They were tasked by the town to create a statue that exemplifies all the qualities we value as citizens of our hometown, state and country. The students also needed to create a sales pitch to deliver to the town council to have their design selected. After a week of votes from all the classes and some staff members we narrowed down the Top 11 to the Top 5 winners. Congratulations to 5th Place, Emma Camm and 4th Place Amber Pregartner for their creative models! The top 3 finishers were Beth Alexander (3rd), Amanda Drummond (2nd) and Owen Callahan (1st). Great job by all the students on their statues!
ESL and WAVE Students Donate to Teens
The ESL and WAVE students teamed up to shop for teens currently staying in domestic violence safe houses this holiday season (For the Love of Pete's Pantry). They used donations from the Audubon Community and traveled to Walmart and Five Below on Wednesday, December 11 to shop. It was an outstanding day! Our students will bring smiles to many teens this holiday season facing very difficult situations. We are VERY PROUD of the great work our students are doing for others.

Chemistry Students Work On Holiday Themed Labs
Mr. Marino and Mr. Harter's science classes both have holiday themed labs for chemistry students. Mr. Harter's Chemistry classes carry out a reaction that coats the inside of a clear glass ornament with a layer of silver. Students get to keep the ornament and bring it home with them after the lab.
There is also an artificial tree known as the “chemis-tree” where students can earn extra credit by making science themed ornaments to hang on the tree.
Skills For Living Students Complete Sewing Project
Skills for Living students recently finished up their sewing projects. They made a variety of items including scrunchies, tote bags, microwave hot packs, stuffed animals, pillows and more. This project tied up the Clothing Care unit.
World History Classes Set Sail

Students were required to build a ship and design a navigation plan that would safely carry them (along with their valuable cargo) as far as possible within two minutes. It's been a busy month in the Media Center! Health Prep Club Holds Winter Warm Up Clothing Drive
The Health Prep Club held a WINTER WARM UP Clothing Drive to support Joseph's House, a Homeless Emergency Shelter in Camden, NJ. The club collected 4 boxes of scarves, gloves, hats and socks along with raising $50 towards the purchase of these items! Joseph's House staff came to school to collect the items and meet our club members. Our members are learning about the basic needs of survival and how it impacts our health.
Our club members also learned what Code Blue is and how it impacts citizens in NJ that may be unsheltered.
When temperatures drop below freezing and conditions pose a threat to unsheltered individuals, a network of agencies throughout New Jersey help people obtain shelter. During times such as these,Offices of Emergency Management together with municipal government will often initiate and communicate a Code Blue Alert which enables authorities to make shelter arrangements for adults experiencing homelessness. The shelter arrangements may include the opening of Warming Centers for this specific need. The Code Blue activations, deactivations, and Warming Center listings that you find on https://nj211.org/njcodeblue
Interact Club Completes Successful Fall Service Project
