Wildcat Newsletter
August 28th, 2024
Dear Wildcat Families,
It’s been a fun first two days of school having students and staff back together! We know that we’ll have our youngest Wildcats joining us soon. The first day for the Kindergarten classes is Tuesday, September 3rd. We are meeting a few of them each day this week while they ramp-up to the full class attending.
If you were out front on Tuesday, you couldn’t miss the Superintendent’s visit. Dr. Armstrong rode the school bus with our students, met the media upon arrival, then had a Woodlawn tour and made classroom visits before heading off to Benson High School. Here are a few links to view pictures and articles about our first day with the Superintendent.

Next week, the newsletter will be sent home in print to all students and will also arrive electronically. Wednesday’s are our typical days to send things home from school. Your child will use a Wednesday Folder that should be returned on Thursday. Next week, you will also receive a survey that will ask you to choose how you want to receive the newsletter this year. While 80% of our families choose the online version, we make paper copies each week for those who prefer paper.
Again, we’re so happy to have you and our students back at Woodlawn for another great year!

From the PTA
The PTA loves seeing your Wildcats wearing the new Woodlawn T-shirts.
The New logos are Kitty Face, submitted by 4th graders June Christopher and Graham Simonsen, Fast Cat Retro logo, submitted by parent Leah Verwey Simonsen, and Block Letter Cat, submitted by parent Charlie Parrott. We have them in many colors and sizes. Come buy one outside of school this week.
Thank you for helping the PTA make the return to school special.
Thank you also to everyone who helped us at the clothing swap and merchandise area at the Welcome Back Fair. The PTA collected and organized those clothing donations this Summer and seeing all the happy shoppers made that effort worthwhile.
The PTA Staff Appreciation Team set up an amazing spread in the PTA sponsored Staff Resilience Room to nourish our staff so they were able to welcome your Wildcats to the new school year. Thank you to everyone who baked or donated treats for that event.
More Help needed with Week One Hospitality
We need more volunteers to help sell Woodlawn T-shirts the first week of school and the first day of Kindergarten (9/3). Learn more and sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0D49AFA828A4FEC43-help2
Other Volunteer Needs
As a PTA we also have a requirement to send volunteers twice a year to the PPS clothing closet at Marshall Highschool. You will be organizing donations and helping families shop for school clothes. If you can help us volunteer there on September 9th, we would be so grateful. Learn more and sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0D49AFA828A4FEC43-50675252-woodlawn#/
