Dear Parents/Carers,
This week has been Children’s Mental Health Week and the focus has been ‘Know Yourself, Grow Yourself’. We launched the week with a special assembly where the pupils entered the hall listening to mindfulness music and were asked to reflect on both their physical and mental health. Throughout the week, pupils have been reflecting on ways they can be more self-aware, their strengths and the challenges they face. Much of the work has centred around feelings and emotions and how we can support each other; recognising that we all need support at different times. Today, pupils and staff were invited to wear comfies for the day which has further supported our well-being.
This Week
Miss Honeyman-Smith, our school Mental Health Lead, is supported by a team of pupil Mental Health Ambassadors who are available to listen and talk through pupil worries. We also have a friendship bench on the school playground, a pupil worry box to support pupils who may need to write a worry down and a wealth of books for our pupils to read covering a range of areas. In addition to this, some of our older pupils run a Mindfulness Club at lunchtime.
EYFS Lunar New Year
EYFS Children celebrated Lunar New Year with Chinese dancing and tasting food including noodles, prawn crackers, dumplings and dipping sauces.

Future in Wind Workshops
Next week, on Thursday 13th February, Miss Honeyman Smith and the Ambassadors will meet with a representative from Future In Mind – a Wakefield Local Authority outreach team who come into schools to support pupils with well-being. After school, from 3.30pm - 4.30pm on the same day, parents and carers are invited to come into school to attend a Worry Warriors Workshop, led by the team, to provide parents with strategies to support children at home. Everyone is very welcome to attend.
