This Week at Adams Elementary
This week, Adams Elementary celebrated creativity as the Art Teach program from the Segerstrom Center brought the beauty of Chinese Brush Painting to our 2nd, 5th, and 6th-grade students. Under the guidance of the talented Mayee Futterman, students explored this traditional art form, blending delicate strokes and vibrant watercolors to produce stunning masterpieces.
The program offered students an opportunity to learn about the history and techniques of Chinese Brush Painting while expressing their creativity. Their finished artworks reflect both skill and imagination, showcasing the artistic potential of our students.
Thank you to Arts Teach and Mayee Futterman for inspiring a love for art at Adams Elementary. We are proud of our budding artists and look forward to more programs that enrich our students' educational experiences!

Rest & Play
“As a parent, when you create space for your child to rest, you're teaching them that peace is important and taking care of themselves is essential”
During the busy holiday season, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by hectic schedules and long to-do lists. But some of the most memorable moments come from simply spending unhurried, quiet time with family. Whether it's gathering around the table for a peaceful moment, playing a game, or just enjoying each other's company without distractions, these calm moments offer the perfect opportunity for connection, reflection, and relaxation. Often, the best memories are made when we take the time to slow down and just be together.
Tips to help your children manage stress:
- Model how to manage stress
- Rest as a family mentally and physically
- Help children find ways of coping with big emotions
- Help them build toolbox breathing strategies
- Relaxing their muscle
- Listen to calming relaxing holiday music

Adams Elementary Launches PBIS School Climate Survey
At Adams Elementary, we strive to create a welcoming, supportive, and positive environment for all students. To ensure we’re continuing to meet these goals, students in grades 3-6 will participate in a short School Climate Survey. This important survey will provide valuable feedback to help us improve our campus climate and maintain our Platinum Status with the state PBIS commission. The survey consists of 12 simple statements that students will rate as Never, Sometimes, Often, or Always. These questions reflect their experiences at school, including topics such as feeling safe, behavior expectations, and access to adult support.
Here’s what students will consider:
- I like Adams Elementary.
- I feel like I do well in school.
- Adams Elementary wants me to do well.
- Adams Elementary has clear expectations for behavior.
- Teachers and adults treat me with respect.
- Good behavior is noticed at Adams Elementary.
- I get along with other students.
- I feel safe at Adams Elementary.
- Students treat each other well at Adams Elementary.
- There is an adult at Adams Elementary who will help me if I need.
- Students in my class behave so that teachers can teach.
- I know who to ask if I am having a difficult time with my emotions at Adams Elementary.
This survey is an important tool to ensure our school remains a safe and positive place for students to learn and grow. Be sure to check out the recent article in the Mesa Verde Magazine that highlights our PBIS Platinum Award and showcases our commitment to a supportive school culture!
