1st Day Fun!
Thank you to the PTO for decorating for the 1st Day of School.
Job Well Done!
Thank you to the summer custodial and maintenance staff for all of their work getting the school ready for students and staff.
Donations
- Thank you to Gerry Hauser for donating his time and materials to completing the electrical work on the concession stand.
- Thank you to Colleen Kramer for the donation of materials to the Elementary School.
- Thank you to Modern Woodman for the donation of backpacks and supplies to our students.
- Thank you to Deb and Mark Mackowski for the donation of backpacks and school supplies.
- District Administrator Larry Palubicki provided the board with an update that included staff in-service, Open House success, Community Service Projects which includes the School Garden and the Welcome to Crandon sign on the south end of town, Active Threat Protocol, UW Extension, Forest County Potawatomi – Museum and books for classrooms, and the Governor’s plan to allocate additional funding to school districts.
- Admin updated the Board on the cell phone policy enforcement. Admin stated the students are adjusting well and complying.
- Pitts Bussing presented information regarding the increase in costs and labor shortages.
- Forest County Potawatomi has generously offered to donate funds for the construction of a track around the football field contingent upon naming rights. The board tabled this item and has asked District Administrator Larry Palubicki to furnish them with more information which includes a written proposal with things such as future maintenance costs, bids, overall costs, and what the Forest County Potawatomi would like to have for naming rights.
- The Board approved the creation of the Psi Alpha Honors Society. Thank you Mrs. Votis for the past two years of volunteering your time to the program as the advisor.
- The Board approved the iReady curriculum that was presented by our Director of Curriculum Ryan Ourada
- The board approved the school safety quote as presented. No changes will be made until the School Safety Grant has been approved and or denied. We should know by October meeting if we have received it. Other options were discussed if grant funding is not available to us.
- The Board motioned for the Athletic Field Repair to be brought to the Buildings and Grounds Committee.

September Workshop Meeting
Special Education & Discipline Related to Special Education
Director of Pupil Services Kyle Barber led the presentation of our September workshop meeting on September 26, 2022 in the Robert Jaeger auditorium. This was the Board of Education's first workshop meeting held this school year. Our goal for these workshops is to provide education to staff, parents & community members on certain topics.
This month the chosen topic was special education and how discipline is carried out for special education students. Kyle Barber explained in detail the levels of special education and the process the school follows when children are being evaluated and placed into the special education program. Kyle also went on to explain the Wisconsin state laws and requirements for special education students when it comes to discipline within the school setting.
The Board of Education would like to thank Kyle Barber for taking his time to present this information and answer all of our questions regarding this topic.
