Principal Update
Dear Families,
Today, some of our first and second-grade classrooms had a special treat—guest readers from the Rotary visited to share The Book That Almost Rhymed by Omar Abed! The students loved the playful storytelling and engaging rhymes or in some cases not-rhymes, making it a fun and meaningful experience.
We are so grateful for the opportunity to partner with members of our community to bring the joy of reading into our classrooms. This visit was also a perfect way to kick off our upcoming theme of cooperation! Throughout next month, we’ll be exploring what it means to work together, support one another, and be great teammates in learning and play.
Our third-grade students have been working hard, using cooperation to create surveys about our upcoming playground renovation! Soon, all first through fifth-grade students will have the opportunity to take the survey and share their thoughts.
This is a fantastic way to involve student voice in an exciting project that will impact our entire school community. We’re so proud of our third graders for leading this effort and can’t wait to see the ideas our students contribute!
Best,
Warmly,
Dr. Ruesch
Students Observing Ramadan
At Rose, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all students. We recognize that students observing Ramadan may have different needs during the school day, and we want to ensure they feel comfortable and supported.
If your child will be observing Ramadan and may require accommodations, please reach out to Dr. Ruesch via e-mail at CRuesch@barrington220.org. This will help us prepare and provide the best support possible during this important time.
Thank you for partnering with us to create a welcoming space for all!
Your Feedback Matters!
We invite you to participate in the 5Essentials Survey, which helps guide school improvement by gathering insights from parents, students, and staff. Your input provides valuable information about our school’s strengths and areas for growth.
The survey takes just 10-15 minutes to complete and is completely anonymous. To participate, visit: http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/ and select “Barbara B Rose Elementary School” from the list. You must select "Cook" for the county.
Why Your Participation Matters:
✅ Helps shape future decisions for our school
✅ Provides insight into school culture, learning conditions, and communication
✅ Ensures your voice is heard in making Barbara Rose even better!
The survey is open until March 28, 2025. Your participation makes a difference! If at least 20% of our families complete the survey, we will receive a detailed report that guides school improvement efforts.—every response makes a difference!
Thank you for your time and support in making Rose a great place for all students to learn and grow.
Here is the link to the letter that provides more details on the survey. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
***For families of a 5th grader, your student will complete the student survey on March 5. Students in 4th grade will complete the survey on March 7. If you prefer to opt out of the survey for your child, please email their classroom teacher and Dr. Ruesch.
IMPORTANT Summer School Registration Note for Incoming Kindergarteners and New Students!
Prior to registering for summer school, any student new to our district must submit physical and immunization records via email to districtnurseoffice@barrington220.org. Students may register for summer school once medical forms are received and pre-registration is completed, submitted and approved for the 2025-26 school year. Pre-registration applications are processed in the order they are received. Within 1-3 business days of receiving an email confirmation of pre-registration approval, parents/guardians may log in to their Infinite Campus Parent Portal to access their child's Barrington 220 student ID number. To access this number, log in to the Parent Portal and select the menu item "More" followed by "Login ID Info." The ID number displayed can then be used to register the new student for summer school. If you have questions about the pre-registration process, please email registration@barrington220.org.
