Battle of the Books
Calling all readers!
“Battle of the Books is a statewide Alaskan reading motivation and comprehension program sponsored by the Alaska Association of School Librarians. The goals of the program are to encourage and recognize students who enjoy reading, broaden reading interests, increase reading comprehension, and promote academic excellence.”
Connections Battle Teams will be forming, reach out to your advisor on how to join or click on the What's Happening link for your location team information. Deadline to sign-up is October 18th!

National Honor Society Induction Ceremony

Congratulations to all students on this accomplishment!

FAMILY FUN MOVIE EVENT
Join us for our annual Family Movie Event on Thursday, October 31st from 1-3pm at the Soldotna Prep School Gym. We will be watching 'How to Train Your Dragon'!
Costumes are welcome!!
This year we will be having a contest for a Build Your Own Dragon or Viking Ship!
Over the next few weeks, take items from your home (cardboard, foam, totes, etc.) and create your very own Dragon or Viking ship to bring to the movie event. You can make it so you are able to sit in it while you watch the movie (like a drive-in movie 😃), or just bring it to share your creation with us!
Plan to bring other chairs, blankets, pillows, etc. to sit on for the movie!
Light concessions will be available by our Connections Student Council & National Honor Society. Proceeds will go towards the Thanksgiving food boxes that they provide to our families in need.
There will also be donation boxes for canned & dry goods that they will use for the Thanksgiving boxes.
You may bring your own movie snacks if you like, but please only water for beverages.

Connections Student Pool Punch Cards
Connections families that would like to utilize our local KPBSD pools have an option to get a Pool Punch Card through Connections to use at your preferred pool. Please see the steps to do so below:
1. Contact your local Connections office and request a Pool Punch Card for your student(s). A Pool Punch card form will be sent to you via email or filled out in the office. Forms are also available on our website on the Forms tab. Form must be signed (in person or electronically) for pass to be issued. Punch cards are Pool specific, so you will also need to let us know what pool you'd like a card for.
2. Pool Punch Cards are $55 which is good for 12 swims. The fee will be taken directly out of your students allotment. Each student will need their own card.
3. Your students Punch Card will then be sent directly to the designated pool through district mail. It may take up to a week to get there, so please keep that in mind when planning your swim time.
4. When you visit the pool, just let them know you have a Connections Punch Card.
5. When you need a new Punch Card, just start back at Step 1.
Few special notes:
*Parents or non-Connections siblings will have to be paid out of pocket.
*Pool Punch Cards are specific for the student, they are non-transferrable.
*Currently, the following pools are NOT available for open swim or Connections Pool Punch Cards: Skyview, KCHS, and Ninilchik.
