Need to Know
MS Closing Celebration! We are delighted to celebrate the end of the year with Grade 7&8 students and parents from 4-5pm on Thursday, June 13! Each student is invited to bring a maximum of 2 guests. After a brief closing in Coristine Hall, light refreshments will be served. Students must be wearing their full school uniform, including the SHS blazer. We expect all Grade 8 students to attend and arrive between 3:30-3:45pm to receive instructions. Grade 7 students are highly encouraged to attend. Please inform Ms. Beech if your son (and guests) WILL NOT be able to join us for this event.
Congratulations to all the students who participated in the Study Challenges! The challenges remain available to students and can help to prepare them for successful exams and assessments. The following links may also be helpful:
Important Information about MS Exam Days: Please carefully read these Guidelines for the MS Exams.
Exams begin at 9am each day. Students will only be allowed into the building at 8:50 a.m.
Students must leave Selwyn House when they've finished their exam each day. No lunch.
No smart devices or pencil cases or backpacks permitted in the exam rooms. A clear (Ziploc) bag of necessary items only.
Students must be in full uniform (blazers aren’t necessary).
Grade 8’s must return school laptop and charger on last day of exams (June 12) (Grade 7’s keep theirs to use again next year.)
June 7 - Special Last Day of MS Classes: Students will start the day as usual at 8:15am in their period 1 classrooms. We will hold an awards assembly from 8:30-9:30 for all MS students and staff, followed by a special MS activity organised by the staff. Students are asked to wear House t-shirts and SHS athletic bottoms to school that day in place of their school uniforms. Some activities will be held outside - dress appropriately and bring separate indoor shoes if necessary. Dismissal will be at 12:30pm, after a special early lunch service.
Locker Clean out: Send reusable bags to school with your son - locker clean out will be completed tomorrow!
Next MS Update: Will be emailed to families on Thurs June 20 rather than the afternoon of Thursday June 13.
A Note about Final Grades: Please note that most grades won't be available in mySelwyn until after report cards are emailed to families at the end of June.
Congratulations to all of our Middle School Athletes who were honoured at the MS Athletic Celebration on June 3. See the news story and photos here. You can also find a highlight video and photos here from our Bantam Rugby team’s recent Championship game!
Grade 7 Lemonade & Cookie Sale - Wow! Many thanks to those of you who were able to support yesterday's fundraiser - to all the bakers who took time out of their busy schedules and to those who stopped by after school to say hello and have a treat. We raised just over $1500 in sales and donations which will all be donated to Colorectal Cancer Canada.
Notice from CLSC: Please read this letter from the CLSC regarding services offered during the summer.
School Supplies for next year: Next year’s supply lists for students entering Grade 7&8 are posted online here. Beginning June 25, students may purchase school supplies online for next September through Service Scolaire Editions Vaudreuil Inc. Please note that if you choose to use this service, a percentage of the total sales will be donated to a local children’s charity.
English Summer Reading Selections for students entering Grade 7 and Grade 8 are posted online HERE. Purchase at your preferred retailer. There are no French Summer Reading Assignments for students entering Grade 7&8 in September 2024. Optional French reading recommendations are posted online here.
Students entering Grade 9 can visit the Senior School webpage for English and French summer reading announcements. Details about school supplies will be added to the webpage in the coming weeks.
Duke of Ed Registration Reminder: All Grade 8 students had a presentation about the Duke of Edinburgh Award earlier this month. If you want to use summer activities to complete Duke of Ed hours, make sure you sign up for the award program before the summer. You must be 14 years old to register. Registration instructions and more information can be found here (watch the videos at the bottom of the page). See Ms. Schwartz for any questions.
Contactivity - Pickleball This Summer: The Contactivity Centre is looking for two Selwyn House students to help them run pickleball for seniors this summer! Pickleball will take place at Selwyn House on Thursdays from 1:30PM-3:00PM starting July 11th until August 15th. This is a great opportunity to volunteer, connect with seniors, and have fun playing pickleball! If you are interested, please email Ms. Schwartz.
Echoes of a Proud Nation Pow Wow in Kahnawake - July 13-14: Families and staff are encouraged to attend this summer’s Pow Wow in Kahnawake (please note that the website has the wrong year indicated but the dates of July 13-14 are correct). As part of our commitment to learn more about Indigenous history and culture, this is a great opportunity to experience a festive event that is open to all! The Grand Entry (dancing and singing) begins at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. on Sunday, however, you can expect a long line of cars at the gate if you wait to come later in the day. We suggest arriving around 9:30-10:00 a.m. to avoid the crowds!
Reminders

- Important Dates for 2024-25
- Summer Camps: see our camps webpage here.
Lost and Found! The lost and found items from all around the school are now displayed in the hallway near the front entrance of the Lucas Building ready to be picked up. Photos of some of the items can be found HERE. Be sure to check if anything belongs to your family so you or your son can pick them up as soon as possible. Any items remaining on June 20 will be donated.
Volunteer Appreciation Tea & Coffee: Save the date! All Selwyn House parent volunteers are asked to join us on Tuesday, June 11 at 8 - 9:15 AM for a special celebration. Whether you volunteered an hour or 100 hours of your time, we are gathering under the tent in the Guzzo yard to thank you. Interested in volunteering opportunities at Selwyn and want to find out more? Please stop by!
Grade 8 Laptop Return: All Grade 8 students must return their laptops and chargers on the day of their final exam, Wednesday, June 12. Technicians will collect the laptops and chargers from students in their exam rooms that day. Please read this letter from Mr. Trudeau, Director of Technology, for more information regarding laptop requirements for Senior School. It is expected that Grade 7 students will keep their laptops and chargers over the summer and use them again for their Grade 8 year. A Grade 7 student can hand in his laptop and charger on June 12 if repairs are required (you must email the tech office to inform them if this is the case). All laptops and chargers currently on loan must be returned to the tech office by June 12 as well.
