Dear Parent(s)/ Guardian(s):
I hope that you all had a most enjoyable Thanksgiving and that you continue to savor the leftovers. In the “final photo” at the bottom you can see a festive poster/mural which some of our students made for display in the cafeteria on the day before the break, to give everyone a proper send off for the holiday and the long weekend.
Many of us turn our attention now to the holiday season. The Trumbull Community Theatre will once again be staging a production of A Christmas Carol, starring our very own Ebenezer Scrooge, reading teacher John Congdon. Many of our Madison students will also be part of the production, to include: Connor Decker, Olive Ellyson, Alisha Mahendran, Stella Petrossi, Molly Richards, Ari Shelley and Cameron Walsky. Here is a link to the tickets if you are interested attending this production.
Some of our Madison Musicians put on a great show at the “String Fling” this past Tuesday night at Trumbull High School. This was only the start of our winter concert season. This upcoming Thursday, 12/5, is our Chorus Concert. The following week features our Strings players (and 6th grade band) on Tuesday (12/10) and our Band and Jazz Band on Thursday (12/12). We would love to see you at any or all of these concerts.
Our insert photo this week depicts our French Club engaging in a "French Scrabble Challenge".The French Club meets every other Wednesday in room 204. As Mr. Sakly describes it, each meeting "is an occasion to explore various facets of the French-speaking world and solidify language learning". He has a way with words, in both English and French (and actually in Spanish as well- he sometimes teaches that for us too).
Clubs & Activities:
Chess Club meets every Monday in Room 122.
Science Club will meet on Monday, 12/2. Be sure to sign up on the door.
The next Esports playoffs will be on Monday, December 2nd from 4:30 to 6. Students playing in the match should get a ride to Hillcrest for 4:30.
The next AI Squad meeting will be on Wednesday, 12/4 during ELB in Room 119.
.
MathCounts will have its next meeting on Thursday, 12/5 after school in room 110. All are welcome!
Thanksgiving was the latest possible date it could be this year, with the 4th Thursday of the month falling on the 28th. That means that we have a mere three weeks of school before the winter/holiday vacation. As you can imagine, those three weeks will be jam packed. In addtion to the 3 concerts which I mentioned above, our boys and girls basketball teams have several games on the schedule. There will be something happening at Madison just about every afternoon or evening. I hope you continue to enjoy the weekend, whether that means more time with family, holiday decorating, or braving the crowds to do some shopping (I'll try to do as much as I can online--I'll leave those crowds to others). Best of luck with everything.
Take care,
Peter Sullivan
