Guidance
Classroom guidance is introducing lessons that are part of the evidenced-based COPE Program (Creating Opportunities for Personal Empowerment). The COPE Program teaches children how their thoughts also affect how they feel and behave. They will be learning healthy ways to cope with negative events or thoughts that may occur in their lives. This program will be taught for the remainder of the semester.
This week's lesson focused on turning negative statements into positive statements. Examples of negative are "I can't" or "It's too hard." Students had to come up with their own alternatives such as "I will," "I can't YET," "I can do hard things," "I will keep trying," etc.
5th Grade Spelling Bee
Twelve of our fiftth grade students competed in the Scrips Spelling Bee. After eight rounds, it was Christopher Lancaster who won spelling the word COUNCIL. Kaylee Beachy was the runner up. Christopher will move on to represent Maconaquah Elementary School in the Miami County Spelling Bee.

Drop off/Pick up Safety Concern
Drop off: If you are dropping a student off at school in the morning, students should be dropped off at the gym doors. There are adults and cones present for student safety. If you are parked on the north side of the building, students should be walked with an adult to the sidewalk to ensure they get to the gym doors safely. Students should NOT be walking from the staff parking lot across to the school. That is not a staff supervised drop off area.
Pick up: Cars should not be parked in the lanes until 3:00 pm. If you arrive early, you will need to park in a parking space. There are people who have attended meetings or are picking up a sick child who need to leave before the end of the school day. Please be considerate of this as cars may be asked to move to allow cars to pass.
Please be careful driving and have patience during drop off and pick up. Student safety is our priority!
Attendance
Regular attendance is crucial for students’ academic success. When students miss school, they often miss important lessons, assignments, and opportunities for interaction with their classmates and teachers. This can lead to falling behind in their studies and feeling discouraged. It’s essential for students to attend school consistently to build a strong foundation for their education and future goals.
If your child will not be at school, you must leave the reason for your child's absence when calling into the attendance line. Thank you!

🙌 Braves of the Week
2nd Grade: Kristopher Taylor
Kristopher does great work in the music classroom. He tries his best each week and is growing in his listening skills. He is ready to answer questions and participates well in our class activities. I am so proud of his efforts and look forward to the amazing things he will do in the future. Congratulations, Kristopher!
3rd Grade: Kennedy McGaughey
Kennedy is such a kind, helpful, and hardworking student. She consistently demonstrates a positive attitude and eagerness to learn, no matter the subject. Her enthusiasm is contagious and brightens our classroom! This week she also worked hard to show what she's learned on her checkpoints, and she found out she will be performing in The Enchanted Bookshop! Congratulations, Kennedy!
4th Grade: Freya Blackmoon
Freya deserves Brave of the Week because she is the kind of person who always gives her best, whether it’s schoolwork or helping out a friend. She’s super respectful, always listening to others and treating everyone with kindness. On top of that, she’s incredibly studious—she enjoys learning and never hesitates to put in the extra effort to succeed. Freya is the ultimate example of what it means to be a brave.
5th Grade: Destiny Shelton
I am so excited that Destiny is the Brave of the Week this week. She is so deserving of this honor! Since the start of the school year, I have loved watching her grow as a student. She takes great pride in working hard, participating, and being a leader in our class. Destiny is one of our top spellers and works hard each week to earn over 100%. She is a vocabulary wiz and has earned lots of Kelly Cash, finding vocabulary in everything she reads. Destiny, I am so proud of you and all of your accomplishments, keep up the good work!!!!!
