Welcome to Term 3!
As we kick off the second semester at Lake Orion High School, we hope you all had a restful and enjoyable weekend. While the weather outside might be a bit chilly, the excitement and energy inside our school is anything but!
We are thrilled to share that students will soon begin registering for next year’s classes during this Term. This is an exciting time for our students as they plan their academic journeys and explore new opportunities.

World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) Information
World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) testing for all Multilingual Learner (MLL) students will take place from January 27 through April 4. This assessment helps us understand and support your child’s language development and academic progress. If you are a parent or guardian of an MLL student, please check the newsletter sent prior for more details. Thank you for your partnership in your child’s education!

Service Learning Spotlight
Please encourage your student to look for service-learning opportunities on the LOHS Service Learning website. All opportunities are listed in x2VOL under the Green “Find Opportunities” button.
SENIORS: In Order to Walk at Graduation: All Service Hours, along with a completed reflection for each event, must be submitted through each student’s x2VOL account no later than the Friday after Spring Break of your senior year, which is April 4, 2025 for the 2024-25 school year.
For 3rd quarter graduates, hours are due the Friday after Winter Break, which is February 21, 2025.

Career Readiness Field Trip Opportunity
College of Technology and Occupational Sciences
Northern Michigan University will be hosting a Women in Construction Day on March 21, 2025 during the school day. This hands-on career exploration event is construction is for high-school aged students and runs from 8:45 a.m.-1:45 p.m.
Whether you know carpentry or circuit boards, students can take pride in this field of construction trades and sciences. Students will roll up their sleeves and engage in 3 different construction modules PLUS receive - at no cost - complimentary lunch, tools, t-shirts, scholarship opportunities and more.
If your 9-12th grades female students are interested, please reach out to Mrs. Everitt at rosa.everitt@lok12.org and we will work on organizing this field trip.

LO-AM
Take a look at our upcoming live broadcast schedule for the week. It includes 3 episodes of our live newscast LO-AM. Plus Unified Basketball, and the final home game of the season for Varsity Boys Basketball when they host Oxford on Tuesday.

Student Clubs and Extracurriculars
Guided After School (GAP) program that offers various clubs for our students at Lake Orion High School. Each club is led by our outstanding staff at LOHS. All After School clubs will abide by Lake Orion High School rules and current policies.
How to Sign up for GAP
- Fill out the GAP form and pay the GAP fee in order to participate in all GAP clubs.
- Students are eligible for all clubs after they pay for one. THIS IS ONLY FOR GAP CLUBS
- Register for GAP clubs with Mr. Kimball or online with the links below

Transcript Request
It is college application season! Lake Orion High School has partnered with Parchment to order and send your transcript and other credentials securely. *This is a FREE account to you and can work with two different e-mails.
** Note: If a college/university site requires a fee please stop in to see your counselor BEFORE making any payments.

LOHS Pick Up and Drop Off Procedures
- LOHS drop off and pick up entrance for students is from Scripps Road only.
- The arrows indicate the direction of flow during student drop off and pick up.
- Green Arrows indicate drop off/pick up zone. Please pull forward as far as you can before having your student exit/enter the vehicle.
- DO NOT pull up to the main building.
- DO NOT use the Staff Lot or Bus Loop for picking up or dropping off students.
Distinguished Dragon Award
Thank you for taking the time to recognize one of Lake Orion Community Schools' staff members for their excellence.
The intent of the Distinguished Dragon program is to ensure that staff members who go above and beyond their regular duties are appreciated. The additional effort or support can range from helping an individual to helping a group or any effort that seems worthy of praise.
The staff member can be nominated by a student, parent, community member or even their own colleague. We ask for the submitter's name and contact information to follow up with specific questions if necessary.
Please complete the form entirely so the individual can be appropriately honored for their contributions.
