Connections Events Feedback Survey
As we continue planning for the remainder or the 24-25 school year and look ahead to the 2025-2026 school year, we'd like some feedback on the events that Connections offers.
Please take the time to complete the short feedback survey below. Thanks in advance for helping us serve our families as best we can!
Understanding & Navigating Artificial Intelligence
As homeschool parents, you have taken steps to prioritize your child’s education and to give them the tools they will need to be successful. While it may be impossible to predict the future or even know what our kids will be “when they grow up”, one thing is for sure – it will be very different than the world we grew up in, and artificial intelligence will be a part of it!
AI has exploded on the scene in the past year or two, and if you are curious, or perhaps even a bit skeptical, about Artificial Intelligence and ChatGPT, Seward Connections Advisor, Laura Haskins, has put together a Video Series called “Understanding and Navigating Artificial Intelligence”. The information in this series is geared toward K-12 parents and students. Her hope is that you gain a basic foundation in order to start a conversation with your family and to explore it further.
The link will take you to a Google Folder where you will find 5 short videos to watch at your convenience. Please also check out the other resources in the Folder and she would also appreciate it if you complete the feedback survey when you are done. Homer Veterinary Science- Dissection
The Homer Veterinary Science students did comparative dissection of cow, sheep and pig eyes.
In addition to structural and functional elements of the eye, these students also learned some amazing facts about exotic animals' eyesight.
The group of students in amazing, dedicated, and engrossed in science!
We have about 45 students doing different vet science classes (2 age levels and online). Teacher Lindsey Blaine sends a big THANK YOU to all that are attending!!
If you are wondering about the gorgeous colors on the back of the cow eye... it's part of the reflective color we see in a cat and even moose eyes when the light hits just right. It helps them see at night. Humans do not have that.

These pieces DO NOT have to be within a certain theme. Any creation is welcome! Pieces need to be to the Soldotna Connections office no later than March 28th.
Connections is also excited to be a part of the City of Soldotna Art Exhibition. Our school will be featured April 14th - May 19th. These art pieces are to be within the theme 'Connecting in Soldotna'. Think about what traditions or family adventures connect you to our community. Fishing, camping, hunting, berry picking, four-wheeling, snow-machining, wildlife viewing, etc. and share these through your art! If you do not live in the Soldotna area, the general Alaska Adventure theme will be great!
If you plan to participate in this Art Exhibition, please click the link HERE and let us know as we have to have a certain number of participants in order to do it.
These themed art pieces must be flat and be able to fit in an 8x10 or 11x14 frame.
