Dance It Up! October Newsletter

It's Back! It's mysterious and spooky, silly, and sparkly too! Come in your costume to a fun and festive Halloween bash. Play games and dance with our teachers and assistants, have a delicious treat made of "dirt", and have a frightfully good time! The party is open to all children ages 3-10, Dance It Up enrollment is not required, so bring a friend to dance with you! Sign up for this popular event today before it sells out.

Our dancers will be working on fun Halloween themed dances in their classes this month and they love performing them for an audience.

We invite you into the last 5 minutes of classes from October 24-30 to see for yourself!

During the week before Halloween, dancers are invited to show their "spirit" by wearing a costume to class! We ask that all costumes have enough room for a full range of movement, and still allows for them to wear their normal dance footwear. If your dancer would like to wear an old dance costume, that's a great choice too! Ask in the office if you have any questions about what is appropriate. We can't wait to see them show their style!

Look for Berry in the studio this week, maybe he'll be observing your dance class! Register your friend to come to your dance class with you during Bring a Friend to Dance week, and you will be entered to win our new friend Berry! Friends are invited to attend classes with you October 7-12. All guests in classes should be age appropriate for the class they wish to join you for, and all guests must complete a participation waiver. Dance It Up is pleased to announce this new class offered by Ms. Catherine, our Ballet Director and certified instructor of Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT). Dancers (Fund III+) and athletes, ages 9 to adult, will benefit from this body conditioning and strength building program that focuses on muscle memory development. Ballet-specific exercises will help students to:

• Improve muscle memory

• Enhance technique

• Heighten control and precision

• Prevent injuries

• Enhance artistic expression.

PBT is a wonderful complement to our weekly dance classes. Students are asked to bring their own yoga mat; we will supply additional props that may be used during class including yoga balls, fusion balls, and resistance bands.

The class is offered on Tuesdays from 4:15-5:00pm in 6 or 30 week sessions.

Each 6 week session costs $72.00. A discount is available when you sign up for the full 30 weeks! Click here to register!

If you wanted to add a class but weren't sure of your fall schedule, don't worry! It's not too late. We offer ongoing registration all year for all your favorite classes and performance groups. We only ask that if your dancer would like to perform in the recital, you be enrolled by the time choreography begins in January. Not sure if a class is right for you? When you refer a friend they get a $25 Dance It Up! tuition credit, and so do you! Make sure your referral contacts the office to let us know that you shared Dance It Up with them and we'll do the rest.

We have an outstanding cast this year and with more than 50 dancers in the show on December 7th, tickets are sure to sell quickly! This is a fabulous, family friendly tradition that you won't want to miss out on.

Tickets go on sale on October 13 - you'll find the link to purchase yours on our website. Like our recitals, the Not Just Nutcracker performances have assigned seating based on the order in which requests are received, so don't delay. As a reminder families with dancers in the Nutcracker cast (including Dance Jam) must purchase 6 tickets to the show.

Does your dancer have classes during the show? We will be sending details about your complimentary ticket soon!

Our dress rehearsal is at Dance It Up! on Saturday, November 23! Professional photos by Shier's Photography in costumes, will take place on the 23rd. Bookmark the Nutcracker page on our website and make sure you have subscribed to texting for your account! We will send Nutcracker schedule updates, photo and ticketing information, and announcements via text, and keep an eye out for the Not Just Nutcracker newsletter with performer and family updates coming soon!

We're a few weeks into the season and we are building quite a collection of lost water bottles, coats and dance shoes. Our Lost & Found is located in the upper waiting area atop the white dancer cubbies.

Please mark all water bottles, shoes and clothing with your dancer's name and we will do our best to make sure your lost items are returned to you!
