Hello Kipling Families,
I am incredibly excited to start my third year as your principal and I am eagerly awaiting for this school year to begin. It has been such a pleasure to form the positive and supportive relationships I have with all of you over the past two years and I am looking forward to our work ahead together. If you are new to Kipling, I am thrilled you are joining our community and I am so happy your family is now a part of ours. I hope everyone has been enjoying their summer break even as we may be counting down the days to the new school year. We cannot wait to welcome our students back to school on Monday, August 19th. As a reminder, August 19th is an early dismissal at 11:40am.
Look for an email from me on Monday, August 12th with Drop-off and Pick-up procedures and other logistics for this school year. Until then, please enjoy every minute of the summer you can with your families and loved ones.
We are going to have an incredible year and I look forward to working together with you and your children. See you soon!
Respectfully,
Mr. Matthew O. Lombardo, NBCT
Principal
Kipling Elementary School

Class Placements
Official class placements will be available in Family Access on Monday, August 5th. Developing class lists is a complex process. A significant amount of time has been put into creating balanced classes that meet student needs. The teacher listed represents the final class placement for your child. Changes to class placements will not be made. Our teachers are very excited about their new classes and have been working hard to prepare for the new school year.
Kindergarten Meet the Teacher and PTO Kindergarten Play-Date
All Kindergarten students are invited to come to Kipling on Thursday, August 15th between 3:30-4:30 to drop off supplies (if you did not order through the PTO), see their classroom, and briefly meet their teacher. Please keep in mind this time is not meant for conferring with your child’s teacher and there will be no formal presentation given. Instead, it is a time for your children to gain some comfort and confidence about what their classroom looks like and who their teacher will be.
Immediately following the Meet the Teacher timeframe, our incredible PTO is hosting a Kindergarten playdate on our playground from 3:30-5:00pm. Kindergarten students and their families can come play on the playground, have a popsicle, and parents can ask other PTO members any questions they have before school starts. Please remember to stop by your classroom first as our teachers will be leaving at 4:30pm.
1st Grade Meet the Teacher
2nd-5th Grade New Family Tour of Kipling
Back to School Night
Our Back to School Night will be Thursday, August 22nd, from 5-6:30pm. All parents are welcome to attend, but due to spacing issues, we ask that our students and younger siblings do not attend. Speaking of enough space, we ask all parents who are able to walk to please consider walking to school that night so we don’t run out of parking spaces. Carpooling is another great option if you can make those arrangements.
Kipling is Composting
In an effort to Go Green @ Kipling, we are excited to continue the lunchtime recycling and composting program. You can help by:
Volunteering in the lunchroom (we’ll teach you the simple process -- no experience necessary AND you get to see your kids at lunch!). Sign up here (https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0B4DA5AE2DA7F5C07-50381255-kipling#/) or reach out to Jessica Lorber(Jzindell@gmail.com) for more information on volunteering.
Packing lunches in reusable and/or compostable containers, like those in the links. These small efforts make a HUGE difference in the amount of waste created during each lunch period.
Thank you for helping make our planet a little bit greener, one lunchroom at a time.
