This past week, we had the special privilege of welcoming State Representative Lisa Hernandez to Freedom Middle School! Her visit was part of a celebration honoring our Golden Apple Scholar teachers, Ms. Diana Rodriguez and Ms. Aliyah Reyes. These two outstanding educators are an integral part of our school community and have made a tremendous impact on our students' academic and personal growth. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and the positive influence they bring to our classrooms every day.

Looking ahead, MAP testing will take place on Monday, May 5th - Wednesday, May 7th. This assessment is an important tool that helps us track your child’s academic progress in key areas such as reading and math. Because MAP tests are adaptive, they provide a personalized measure of each student’s growth and learning needs, helping us tailor our instruction to better support every learner.

To help your child do their best, we kindly ask for your support in the following ways:

• Ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep before each testing day.

• Provide a healthy breakfast to start their day off right.

• Make sure your child brings a fully charged iPad, wired earbuds (no Bluetooth), and an earbud adapter to school.

• Most importantly, offer encouragement and positivity—remind them that this test is just one way to show how much they’ve learned and grown this year.

Adrian is a very respectful and responsible student. He is consistenly academically engaged and prepared to begin class before the bell rings. He has great participation in class and works well with his peers. On the occassion that Adrian is having trouble he always raises his hand to get support to complete his work and learn the material.

Sara is an empathetic, mature and helpful student in the class. She is always willing to help explain concepts to other students even when it's out of her comfort zone. She is a natural leader and we are very fortunate to have her in our class.

Elizabeth has been doing great work in math class. She enjoys the journey of discovering how to do something. She has been drumming her unique beat in Band and in Studio Club where she also plays guitar. Elizabeth is kind and welcoming to people and she appreciates the odd things in life, including slime which she has made lots of and successfully sold. She also loves Garfield ( :

Please consider joining the PTSA at Freedom Middle School. The PTSA is a membership based advocacy association that builds community between schools and families. Join today to have your voice heard! The PTSA is for everyone! Parents, guardians, students, and teachers are all welcome to join. No commitment is required! If you want to volunteer, that’s great, but your support as a member is enough. Studies have shown that students who attend schools with a PTSA have higher rates of academic success, and the more members in the PTSA, the higher the overall success!
