PAGE MIDDLE SCHOOL
August 19th - August 23rd, 2024
Principal's Message
Page Middle Families,
Monday is a late start this week. Thank you to all our families getting their students to school on time. Traffic is always a challenge. On-time arrivals are much better this year despite missing a crossing guard most days.
If your child walks to or from the high school during arrival and dismissal please discuss with them the proper use of the crosswalk. We had a student nearly hit this week because they tried to cross when the signal was telling them to stay put. Just because cars are stopped due to traffic does not mean it is safe to cross. Please wait for the signal to indicate it is time to cross. This signal is not monitored by school staff. The crosswalk is the safest way to cross the road but it must be used correctly.
We had a great 2nd week of school. Thank you for the large turnout for Open House this week. It was awesome to interact with many of our families. We really appreciate your support by logging in and paying the optional student fee. This money goes for additional school supplies to enrich your child's learning.
Our PTO is beginning its INVEST campaign. Our school is growing and we would like to equip all of our classrooms with SmartBoards, white boards, and document cameras. Our poster printer has spent its life after 12 years of service and the projector in the cafeteria where daily announcements are displayed needs to be upgraded due to the updated lighting the county installed in the cafeteria. Your help is always appreciated and helps to enhance the learning environment at Page Middle.
Counseling “Opt In” Follow-up
Thank you to all our families for completing the Skyward Back-to-School forms and for sharing your consent or non-consent for counseling services this school year. At this point our school counselors and administrators have spoken to each family who answered “no” to that counseling opt-in to ensure that we fully understand the counseling wishes of each family. The conversations and relationships that were developed and deepened with families make us proud of the work we do to serve students and families well in WCS. It has always been a priority for us to develop positive, collaborative relationships between our families and school counselors while honoring their wishes as we serve their children.
For the families who answered “no” to counseling services in Skyward Back-to-School forms, we noted which services their children should participate in and which they shouldn’t participate in during this academic year. We have learned that some families are comfortable with some counseling services, but not other services. We have worked to honor each one of those unique requests to the best of our abilities. If something changes, please reach out to your child’s counselor as noted below.
If you are a family who answered “yes” to counseling services in the Skyward Back-to-School forms, your child is set to receive counseling services this school year. Those services could include meeting with a school counselor for academic support, college and career readiness, or social and personal development. School counseling support may be delivered individually, in small groups, or in a classroom setting. Please let us know if you would like to discuss the counseling services you want or do not want for your child this academic year. As always if something changes for your family as the year progresses, please reach out to your child’s counselor as noted below.
