Henry Happenings
May 28th, 2024
Principal Message
This will be our last newsletter for the 2024-2025 school year! As we prepare to bid farewell to another school year, let's reflect on the achievements and memories we've created together. Whether it's academic milestones, artistic endeavors, or acts of kindness, each contribution has enriched our school community.
As we look ahead to the summer break, I encourage everyone to take time for rest, rejuvenation, and reflection. Let's cherish the moments spent with loved ones and embrace the opportunity to recharge for the adventures that lie ahead. Good luck to our 5th graders who are moving to middle school next year! Also, for the few staff and some families who are moving on to new adventures we will miss you!
Our next newsletter will be published late in July with a summer update. Also, when able, we will announce our new Assistant Principal.
Thank you for your continued support and collaboration. Wishing you all a safe, joyful, and fulfilling summer!
Go Bulldogs!
Sincerely,
Dr. Jodi Oliver

Extra Yearbook Sales
Yearbooks will be distributed to students on the last day of school, and there will be a grade-level yearbook signing during their specials time. There will be a signature package for the students who did not order a yearbook, but we do have some extra yearbooks for sale to students who did not order one in February.
Students may bring $20 cash or a check (made out to Henry PTO) to purchase a yearbook, on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have a child leaving early before the end of the school year, please notify your child's teacher so that the yearbook gets home with your child before the last day of school.
Last Chance to Claim Lost and Found Items
Please see the linked pictures to look at our lost and found. Please encourage your child to retrieve items that you/they might see that belong to them. All items not picked up by the last day of school will be donated. Click here to see the pictures.
Henry School Safety Officer Recognized by KTVI
Each month FOX 2 selects the recipient of its Proud to Serve award. Chosen recently was Officer Michael Hitchcock, a member of the Ballwin Police Department for 38 years. Officer Hitchcock is currently the school resource officer for all six elementary schools in Ballwin. Click here to read the article. Congrats Officer Hitchcock, we appreciate all you do for Henry!
Parkway Summer Reading
Summer is the best time to read! We recently welcomed St. Louis County Library to Henry to help us get excited about summer reading. Students learned about SLCL's new, revamped summer reading program and all the prizes they can earn. Additionally, our own Henry Library has a summer reading program for all our Henry Readers (students in 1-5th grades for 2024-2025). A packet of information went home last week with all students currently in K-4th grade. If you need more information you can find it on the Henry Library Website.
Please visit the Parkway Summer Reading Website for book recommendations for K-2, 3-5, and 6-8 students. Happy reading!
Notes from Nurse Munch
1.) If your student has medication in the nurse's office, please make plans to pick it up this week! Per Parkway Policy, all medication not picked up by the end of the day on May 30th must be discarded! Even if your child is going to summer school or will be using the same medication next year, current medication must be picked up by a parent or guardian. We are not allowed to send medication home with bus drivers or in student's backpacks. If you need to arrange a time outside of regular school hours to pick up your student's medication, please email or call Nurse Munch! Thank you!
2.) AAFA-STL (Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America) is hosting an 'AAFA Day at the Ballpark' to help raise awareness for children with food allergies. We hope you can join us at our annual AAFA Day at the Ballpark on Saturday, June 8! AAFA-STL is committed to spreading awareness about child food allergies! Tickets can be purchased here.
Tickets are just $45 and include entry to the St. Louis Cardinals game in an allergy-friendly free section (no peanuts will be allowed in our sections, and neighboring sections will be asked to throw their peanut shells in a small plastic trash bag provided by the Cardinals), #228 or #229, an exclusive St. Louis Cardinals and AAFA-St. Louis hat (while supplies last) access to a parade on the field before the game, entry to the pre-game tailgate featuring asthma screenings, food allergy information and management tips, food allergy-friendly snacks, an open bar (for guests 21+), raffles, games and more! Each ticket is a $125 value.
