Read Across America Week March 3 - March 7!

This week we will celebrate reading throughout our school! Students can expect a week of spirit days, a visit from Nutsy to kick off the Go Nuts for Reading program, guest readers, the March Madness book tournament, DEAR time, and reading contests. We hope you will plan to help us celebrate at our Family Literacy Night on Thursday, March 6th!

GCPS Annual Report

The GCPS Annual Report to the Community is now live! This interactive report highlights key moments from the past year, including the opening of the new Goochland Elementary School, student achievements, and exciting events like Career and Technical Education Signing Day and the Veterans Day Project. Exciting Update to the GCPS Volunteering Page – New Volunteer Recruitment Form!

We are excited to announce that the Volunteering page on the GCPS website has been updated with a brand-new Volunteer Recruitment Form! The new form simplifies the process for anyone interested in volunteering within our school district, making it easier to get involved and contribute to the success of our students.

We encourage all interested volunteers to fill out the form to help us match your skills and interests with the perfect opportunities within our schools. Your time and expertise are invaluable to the success of our students, and we are grateful for your support!

Preschool Registration

Goochland County Public Schools is accepting applications for preschool for the 2025-2026 school year! Goochland has preschool classrooms at each of its three elementary schools. These are full-day programs and transportation to and from school is provided. You can apply for preschool using this online application. Click here to learn more about our preschool programs.

Goochland Restaurant Reading Incentive Program

The Goochland Restaurant feels passionate about encouraging reading throughout our community! They are sponsoring a reading incentive program that is similar to the BOOK-IT Program many adults loved once-upon-a-time! Goochland students will receive a bookmark to track their reading. Once students have read 8 books, then they can turn the completed bookmark into the Goochland Restaurant in exchange for a free drink AND their choice of fries, onion rings, or a cookie! The best part is that students are not limited to just one bookmark! They can complete multiple bookmarks!

BES Math Night - Coming in April!

BES will host a Family Math Night paired with the Spring Book Fair on 4/16 from 5PM-7PM (More details to come). Families, we need your help! Please sign up to help us make the night successful!

The Goochland Middle School PTSA is looking for volunteers to fill positions for next year. Please reach out to the email on the flyer if your child is moving up to the middle school and you are interested in helping!

Helpful Links & Info

Please notify the office about transportation changes via email at beseagles@glnd.k12.va.us. If you have daily transportation needs, please make sure you provide changes at the beginning of each week for the entire week. Please make sure you have all transportation changes in prior to 1:00 PM, this allows staff time to communicate all necessary changes and avoids confusion when a call is not received. We appreciate your support.

Parents who wish to chaperone a field trip or volunteer regularly in our school must submit to a background check every 2 years using the BIB portal. The process is completely electronic. If you are having problems with the system, contact Demetra Harris at dharris@glnd.k12.va.us.
