School Security at Arrival
Updated Protocols
February 25, 2025
At Dunn Elementary, we are continuously reviewing and updating our security measures, as your children's safety is our priority. In addition to the changes to Classroom Party and Assembly check-in procedures, I am updating our morning arrival procedures to ensure that we know who is in our school building when students are present.
Thank you for reading this in full and plan on these procedures to begin Monday, March 3.
Morning Drop-off Adjustments
Any adult who enters the building must check-in through the front office.
- If your child needs your support getting to the classroom and you will be out of the building by 8:50am (when class begins), follow these procedures:
- Sign in on the green morning arrival book and get a green Visitor sticker to put on.
- Document your time in and time out in the green morning arrival book.
- If your child needs your support getting to the classroom and you have made arrangements with the teacher to be in the building past 8:50am (when class begins), follow these procedures:
- Sign in with the front office as a visitor or a volunteer, depending on how long you are staying or what you are doing while you are here.
- Visitors and volunteers must scan their IDs before entering the building.
**For indoor recess on cold, snowy, or rainy mornings: students entering the building through the doors by the parking lot will go in without adults. If you need to accompany your child into the building, you will come in through the front office and follow the procedures above.
Drop-off and Pickup Traffic Expectations
Car drop off remains the same. Please follow the traffic expectations outlined below for traffic expectations during drop off and pickup.
THANK YOU.
We all value the community feel at Dunn, and we love to see you each day. I hope that you recognize and respect our intention to put safety and security of your children at the top of our systems.
